It’s certainly advertised well but how good a deal is it? I suppose the question is $1200 for the 1199 w/10″ screen vs Helix 10 @ $1500. I was staring at the sale flyer pondering this last night.
What’s the $300 worth? New vs retiring units, autochart live, remote, etc. Certainly a good deal over what a 10″ w/side imaging was only a year ago.

Yeah, I don’t know Pat. I’m not really up to speed on the Humminbirds but there’s obviously a reason for such a deep discount.
The Helix is much better imo, the resolution is much better, the brightness is much better, the processor is faster and it’s widescreen format vs the 1999’s 4:3…auto-chart live is more of a 8 hour demo, so that’s a wash…if you’re patient at finding deals, the difference is much less than $300…
If you’re set on a 1199, you can find current owners looking to unload them to then upgrade to Helix models, these Cabela’s sales just kill their resale value so you can get them cheap…

Tell me about it!
Mine is a little over a year old, and valued $1000 less than what I paid. Argh technology
I do feel like I’ve gotten a grand out if it though, so it don’t hurt too bad
So, help me get this straight in my head. If the original price of the 1199 unit was $2200 and the sale price now is $1200, The value of the used unit should be less than the sale price of a new discontinued/old model price.
I don’t see any of these used units being sold at discounted prices because of the low sale price. I normally look at a used price of something as about 1/2 of the sale price. Is this different with electronics? I would think of old technology being in a buyers market.
I have often wanted to purchase used electronics at lower prices, A. Because i am on a budget and B. Because i am cheap.
I would love to get a deal on used equipment that is better than what i currently have.
I’ve seen several used 1199’s sell for $1,000 on BBC’s boards…1198’s typically sell for around $800
This is mostly due to the sellers being pissed about paying the $2,300+ retail price a year or two ago and wanting to get as much as they can back…theoretically they should be selling used models cheaper when they can be purchased brand new for $1,200-$1,300…some sellers are desperate to get money back after they upgraded to a Helix, others hold tight…
I saw this coming and sold my 999 before the selloff madness started, got most of my purchase price back…but I’ve been burned in the past….
Hilltopper – You’re entering the used market at just the right time, just be patient and watch for deals…
as expected looks like they sold out already…if you’re looking for one, I’d spot check their website every few hours as they do eventually restock…
Not to many new 1199 left out there, could keep checking BBC Boards BBG Marine had the 1199 on sale for $1135 shipped and so did UniversalMania.

I’m with JoeMX on this one. I have both Helix 10 and the 1199si. Side by side the Helix resolution is so much better. You will see how bright and clear it is. Also maybe its just me, but Ive also notice that I don’t have lots of clutter on my helix vs my 1199, like you would in the dam side of pool4.
