I recently purchased a used boat with a 1198c with an ipilot remote and a terrova. The handhold remote will not charge, i was given 2 chargers with it that the previous owner said worked last summer. Do i simply need a new cord? Is it common for them to go out? Or do i need to replace the remote
Try unplugging the battery and waiting a few minutes. Then plug the battery back in and try to charge it again. For some reason i have to do that if the battery goes low enough to shut the controller off.
The cord that is used to connect the remote to your 12V reciptial sometimes needs to be cleaned. It will get a very minor corrosion surface on it that will inhibit a recharge.
As best as you can use an eraser and alcohol (not consumable, derr!)
