Hub Shelter – V door or Walk-through door model?

Just wondering what everyone’s experience is with the walk through door hub shelters. I just sold my Clam X-400 with two V doors and bought the full door model. I bought online as they didn’t have in store. I received today and am second guessing as it is an extra bit of time setting up and taking down. Any issues in the wind with the full door as long as you face it on the downward side of the wind? From what I read most people like the full door.

Face it on the downwind side you’re good . You don’t need the tent poles if the wind isn’t blowing but they def do help . I’m about 50/50 on the full door . It is super nice but also a lot of messing around if you want to move around all day .

The worst part about it is now you trip over all your buddy’s doors .

I have an Eskimo with a full door. I rarely put the poles in unless I know for sure I’m not moving. No issues with wind. Love not tripping through and carrying chairs and whatnot through it. Kids don’t trip while going through.
I don’t know if it takes me much longer with it or not, so non issue in my book.

Full door for me. The little extra time it takes to set you make up for ease of going in and out later.

Full doors in my Otter hubs and would never look back.

Once you have the full door, you will trip on the v door every time! Full door is worth the few extra steps.

my only knock with the full door setup is you can’t get a great seal (only matters on the really cold days). I will preface by saying my only full door experience is with the eskimo outbreak houses… With only having one zipper and it requiring you to have to zip all the way down to the ice, meaning you can’t bank a bunch of snow around the outside. At least that’s been my experience with the outbreaks. If they made it with two zippers instead of one, you could still bank in the bottom while still being able to access the zipper to go in/out, but I suppose that eliminates the “full” door.

My new otter vortex resort has the full door on one side and v-door on the other. Best of both worlds. Have never used the v door…

Totally agree here, I love the full door for ease of use, but it does let in a lot more air. To the point of really not even needing the vents. I definitely use more propane in my Outbreak with the full door.

I think the full door access is one of the greatest improvements in portable shelters so far!

My problem is that I always fish were there is a little current I want to be facing downstream. When the wind and the current flow is the same, it does make it much colder. One thing I’ve found that helps is that I run my foam pads right out the door and thrown in an extra 2 for entryway (pads outside). Then you can zip the door right down to the pad.
