It’s hard to straddle the fence… when it is wrought iron and the tops are spears. We need to be unburdened by what has been… or something like that. Wonder what the ROBIN will be called. Pretty intense subject.

Batman cause hes felt inferior for to long.
Have Nigerians complained?
Not once, and it’s okay for them to call each other it.
Anybody actually read the article about how they’re changing the names of birds that are named after people, no matter who they are, so they aren’t named after people anymore? Not sure where mispronouncing French names came from
I am surprised by the strong emotional reaction to bird names that many seem to have. I don’t care what we call birds.
its mot just the bird names its ridiculous how they ,whoever want to change names of just about everything, because its offensive?

Its not about the birds. Its about changing or erasing history.
Its not about the birds. Its about changing or erasing history.
Neither of which happens, things just have a different name and the old one becomes part of their history.
Actually, it is buried in history. Like everything else, it becomes forgotten. Much like in 30 years, no one will know who Aunt Jemima was. It will become a question for trivial pursuit. But at least they are not eating the racist pancakes anymore.

Both of which will happen. That is the eventual intent.

If I could change or erase history I’d probably just skip to that step and then the name wouldn’t have a reason to be changed in the first place
Who are the snowflake.. those offended by a pancake name ? Everything is racist… or nothing is. Posturing is so becoming.
They should change food names to. I get offended everytime I eat a cracker.
Who are the snowflake.. those offended by a pancake name ?
Or the ones whining about a pancake name on a fishing forum? I’m good with saying both.

Jeez reef. Do you have any friends?

Probably none in the “passionate about pancake names” crowd. I’m good with that too
I just saw this and it seems to sum up the change pretty well.
“The demand for racism has exceeded the supply of racism.”
The goal was to rename over a hundred North and South American birds, to purge bird names of links to racism and colonialism without having to engage in contentious and time-consuming debates about the morality of every historical figure that had ever been honored in a bird’s common name.
1984 was supposed to be a Novel.
