First, THANKS to John Steinhauer for taking the initiative to get this project underway. I would also like to thank Todd Hansen and Randy Wieland for stepping up and contributing to this effort.

Any comments/improvements on the below? How do we plan to utilize the general IDO rules along with these? John, Randy, Todd???

Here are the proposed rules for the 2012 contest:

    Quote:

    1. This contest is open to any active members registered to idohunting.com. It’s free to register here, (insert link to login page).
    2. This is a deer harvest photo contest for any whitetail or mule deer.
    3. You may enter more than one harvest photo if you are successful on more than one deer.
    4. All photos are going to be judged on quality, background, and creativity.
    5. Only adult deer will count (no fawns) except for youth AGE 16 AND UNDER.
    6. All animals must be taken legally and ethically.
    7. Only harvest photos from the 2012 hunting season are eligible, photo must include date.
    8. IDO will only accept pics taken in the field before the deer is field dressed.
    9. We encourage having your weapon in the photo that you harvested that animal with.
    10. All entries must be submitted with a photograph of the deer on the IDO Deer harvest photo contest thread. The deadline for entries is January 31st 2013.
    11. Judging down to the top three with be done by IDO staff. The top three when then be open to voting by all members on IDO. In the event of a tie staff will then vote on the final two to determine a winner.
    12. Have respect for the animal, have fun with the camera, be creative, have fun, and be safe.

************There will be a prize pack for the winner*********

#12 should be worded a little better but say the same thing and should we do the top 3 or 5? Nice job John, this should be fun for all

#7 – date – I would clarify that the date of kill must be included in the post. Some may think that it actually needs to be part of the picture. I for one do not use the date stamping on my camera.

All decisions by In depth Outdoors is final.

I would also include a timeline around the member voting

Otherwise I think it looks good!

The “massive” rule pack I started to work on should be looked at from the top tier of IDO hierarchy. We want to believe that we should have simple rules, but when prizes get involved, some people can get a bit technical and legal like.

I’ll make these edits and re-publish here. Did this in a bit of a rush this AM so I also have some thoughts to add when I can spend a few more minutes.

FYI: Jeff Williams from Nutra Deer has donated a case of Nutra Deer Antler Builder back pack bags. A $60.00 value.

I just received some arrow wraps from arrowrap.com to throw in. I’m working with spy point trail cameras yet hoping to finish up a deal today. And four seasons still hasn’t gave me the word on what it is they will be donating.

Also waiting to hear back on possible Steiner, Burris, Fieldline and Lansky products. Most likely will not get them all, but asking doesn’t hurt.

Can our sponsors to this contest have the first few posts in the Thread reserved for them to have a JPEG of their logo displayed? I think that is a fare trade off if they are donating products as prizes.

Question. By leaving the contest open until Jan 31, do we lose some of the momentum of the season? It could likely be mid to late February before we award the prize. I’m concerned our day to day traffic will be winding down and we won’t get the traffic we hope to vote for the top 5. Comments please.

I changed from top 3 to top 5 to offer more opportunities for our members. Can be swayed either way here. Comments?

Please re-read all below as minor edits have been made to most.

I’ll be doing some other edits to “pretty” this up a bit, but for now it’s a start. All comments welcome!!

Also, I hate to push, but if we want to roll this out before opener, we need to get our sponsors on board ASAP. I’ll be sending off the logos to the art department to create a “flyer” for our contest as soon as we have this locked down.

Should we set a deadline of 9/10 for sponsorship commitment?

Yes, some seasons are still open in some states. I would suggest a cutoff of Jan 5th. Staff vote and have to have the 5 finalists out by the 10th. Members can vote until the 23rd, annouce the winner on the 24th?

Sold , I would end it after wi/mn MZ season to hope the traffic lingered a bit. Can you check logins by date Kooty? Bottom line is any date will work as long as it is clear to contestants. Everything else looks good, well played fellas. Now let’s start the smack talk
