Haven’t made it down in a few weeks….Is it still high and dirty? Thinking about trying to make it that way Saturday morning.

Still high, dirty & still fast & lots of floating debris. Tried trolling it a couple days ago. Wi side was less debris. Only had one sauger.

I was fishing below ld3 Sunday, grass clumps made it near impossible. I’d imagine it has only gotten slightly worse and pepin probably hard to troll.

I was flathead fishing, about every 5 minutes I’d have 10# of debris on line and after 20 minutes if anchoring my Anchor rope had a bale worth!

North lake is pumping out the crap right now

It’s definitely high and dirty. The trolling bite was fairly decent up until the 4th of July or so even with the high water at the time. We had a couple of 30+ fish outings. There wasn’t much for grass, sticks, etc. Now it is a different story. There’s grass and small sticks everywhere making any trolling far more difficult. I’d be looking to current breaks near deep water close to shore…or some of the more dramatic points on Pepin with leeches.

If you are into catching white bass, they are definitely on the move and chasing schooled shad. Shallow diving cranks retrieved slowly do the trick.

Was there yesterday(Wed.). Water is still high and pretty dirty, too. We had a pretty fair day. Fished the WI side all day. Ended up catch and releasing walleyes of 21 1/2, 21 3/4, 22 and 24 1/2. Caught quite a few in the 13 – 14 3/4 range, too. Nice to see the younger year classes in the system. Caught a variety of different sized saugers. Kept 2, both at about 15 inches. Even managed to catch some really nice crappies, while trolling, too. Kept 4, between 11 and 13 1/2 inches. Caught only 1 real small white bass, 1 mud cat that was about 7 lbs. And, what would a day on Pepin be like, without catching a sheephead and we ended up catching 4. Fished from about 8 – 3. It was a GREAT day to be out there!! Colors that worked best for us this day, were lures having a gold and/or a chrome body in size 7 of whichever lure(s) we decided to go with. Stay safe, good luck, tight lines and may you have a busy net. Take care, everyone.

Fished top end of the lake yesterday caught a few saugers and walleyes one northern and a big crappie. Dragging live bait on Wisconsin side. Does anyone have any knowledge of fishing around the pepin area? I recently moved to that area just north of pepin and would like to try fishing around that area. I’ve never fished that far south on the river. I have fished all over from the dam up by red wing to the rush river by maiden rock. If anyone could give me some direction around pepin that would be great!!
