    How’d you guys do?
A buddy, his son and I shore fished for a couple hours last night on the cannon river. My go-to mister twister wasn’t working in the first five minutes,so I switched to a half worm on a plain hook, and proceeded to catch a bunch of sheepshead. Broke off a medium sized pike and a good walleye this way. Switched back to a pulsar and immediately caught my one and only keeper walleye.
Nothing spectacular, but a good night with good friends. I call it a win.
Hope you guys had a great opening morning! Good luck, tight lines, hope to see you out there!

Fished Mille lacs from 1230 to 530 this morning. 35 walleyes most 17-20 inchers. Did catch 5 keepers and kept 2 22inch fish. Biggest was 24.5. Also one 36 inch pike in the dark.

I got into a thick mess of slimy pike by accident today. Landed 14 of them total. I kept 2 of them that were just under 22 inches and had a fish fry for dinner. Once you get past the slime and y bones, they are pretty good out of cold water.

Also caught 5 largemouth and a rock bass.

Did anyone notice how low the water levels are? Holy cow, we need a monsoon of rain. The access points are down a foot.

Isn’t that the truth. The river is very low with very little flow. It was a great day on the river though. After running around checking wingdams for a while I ended up finding the eyes on a sand flat out in the current. All fish came from 9-13′ of water running 3-4 mph. The big one for the day was 24″, and a couple took a treble to the gills so they came home with me for a swim in the grease!

not questioning or arguing about where you fished an water levels there, but when I was up in Itasca county 2 weeks ago the water levels were best I seen in a long time.

Well that’s good, then it’s not down everywhere at least. The general trend has been quite dry though. We could use a good soak.

Got out on Mille Lacs about 7:30PM and fished until 5:30AM this morning. There were an incredible amount of boats on the lake. Most likely the most I have ever seen. The bite was really pretty slow until about 10:30PM. We were pulling live bait rigs with leeches. Most were slip bobbering. I think we only had 5 fish at 10:30. Once enough boats had left we switched to crank baits and the bite was much more productive. No big fish, and we did get a couple smallies and a couple rock bass as well. It was a fun night. 16, 21.5, 21, 16, 15, 16, 17.5, 20, 18, 15, 18, 20, 20.5, 20, 18, 20, 15, 14, 14, 15, 18.5, 17.5, 14, 21, 17, 18, 16, 21.5, 20, 18, 17, 15.

That’s a good haul Mojo. You put in a lot of time out there. Looks like most of the fish are of similar size. Do you think they’re mostly from the same year class?

Weather made it hard to find fish that wanted to play ball. Spottails coaxed a few in the boat. Hoped the night bite would produce, never really came together. Going into the access, we turned our headlamps on and were greeted by a half dozen large walleyes in knee deep water. Something to think about for next time.
