How to rid the smell of spilt whiskey from truck

Opened my truck door to run to the farm fields tonight and bam, punched in the face with the smell of whiskey. I had a cork come loose and spilled the entire bottle on my back floor.

Any quick ideas to get that smell up? I soaked it all up with a towel and sprayed some cleaner on it.

A trip to whitecastle would take care of that smell.

Keep it outside with the windows fully down for a few days

Aren’t ozone generators supposed to neutralize odors?

Coffee grounds. Could sprinkle them on spilled area and shop vac up after letting the soak a couple days.

Dilution is the solution to pollution.

I’d get the area soaked with water several times and vacuum each time (with a wet vac).

Then, rub in a little carpet cleaner for the remnant smells.

Also worth noting, in chemistry; Alcohol is a Solution mrgreen

I’d consider it expensive air freshener and just enjoy it as is

Shop vac, filter it out, label it as scotch. Pretty much the same taste I’d imagine.

If it was just a hint of some good fine whiskey, I’d let it go.
But it’s strong, it is not great and it’s a brand new truck. I guess I learned my lesson for forgetting it in there. It was in a hilti work bag. I forgot it was in there from rainy. I haven’t opened the door to the truck since Monday. Not sure If it spilt on the drive back Sunday or the heat expanded and contracted the cork over the week .

Odor Xit – try Ace Hardware or on line. Stuff is amazing.

Agree I would try baking soda, could also try odoban spray, that stuff works really good for pet odor and such. The ionizer thing does work, they sell them or some car wash/detail places offer that for a service. I happen to know Perfect 10 in Spring Lake Park does it.

Like said, pour a box or 2 of baking soda right on it for a couple days, vacuum, check and repeat if necessary.

When something similar happened to me I just left the windows open. It took about 2 weeks for the smell to go away. Hopefully some of the other options above can help speed up the process.

    Baking soda

I was going to say that too. Like the boxes you put in your fridge. I used them in my old truck to absorb the smoke smell and it worked fantastic.

They have been advertising a neutralizing agent on TV…called POOP. Looks as if it will work on the whiskey smell.. but only if was crappy whiskey.

    Which Whiskey?
If it’s good I’d come and suck it out of there at no charge. Hell even if it isn’t I still will. tongue

Oh absolutely, I don’t want to deal with that. But the trucks still new enough where I haven’t even romped on it yet.
