How to fry Bacon

How can I be the only one who cooks their bacon with brown sugar? Baked or fried.
Who are you???
I also freeze any left over bacon to use for burgers and what not. You can just reheat them on the grill. They warm up from frozen real quick, it only takes about 30 seconds.
Who am I kidding, I never have left over bacon.

Two reasons to reserve the grease…To cook the eggs in.
To make dressing for wilted lettuce salad, the greatest salad on earth.Have to agree with you Scott! Wilted lettuce salad with bacon grease and bacon bits….. Double-not-YUM YUM!
For those that would like to try it here’s the recipe.
Leafy green lettuce
Sliced red radishes
Chopped green onions
Crumbled bacon
Mix the aboveDressing:
Vinegar
Sugar-add to take the bite out-quite a bit
Hot bacon grease
Mix thoroughly to dissolve the sugar-I use a jar
Pour over salad and toss. This is really good with steak or prime rib.

There goes my keyboard!
February 4, 2015 at 2:38 pm #1507082When I have a lot of bacon to cook, I bake it in the oven at 400 degrees.
I line a baking sheet with parchment paper as it really helps with clean up.February 4, 2015 at 3:03 pm #1507088When I have a lot of bacon to cook…
Who cooks bacon in small quantities? Every Sunday I make a pound pkg for 3 people.
Please, no one here tell me that you cut the raw bacon in half before frying! That’s one of my biggest pet peeves.
February 4, 2015 at 3:11 pm #1507093Too late pug…we cut it into 3 sections. Now every time I cut it, I’ll be thinking of you and your snake.

That, and people who just throw a bunch in a pan. OCD-Ralph needs his strips of bacon neatly lined up in the pan.

Guilty. I count all the slices and then do two even rounds on the griddle.
And Brian, I was nice to not send a picture in the email…

February 4, 2015 at 8:53 pm #1507214Bacon.bacon.bacon…I love bacon no matter how it’s made!!! My brother had me over for the Super Bowl and he had bacon wrapped tater tots…those were good!
Pete SPosts: 277February 4, 2015 at 9:11 pm #1507224Step 1: Get Neuskies Bacon –
Step 2: make a tinfoil pan with folded edges (contains the grease) and put it on the grill. imo, it’s crispier than in the oven and no smell in the house.
step 3: Repeat steps 1 & 2.
February 4, 2015 at 9:49 pm #1507248Just a little insight on trichinosis. It’s not been an issue for a number of decades now. USDA legislation made it illegal to slop-feed pigs. No raw meat products for pig feed = no more trichinosis. The only recent cases have mostly come from folks eating bear meat. Most of us don’t have to worry about eating bear meat – especially if you’re bear clan Any other niij’s in the IDO crowd anyway?
February 4, 2015 at 11:39 pm #1507265It was about 48 years ago and I remember it like it was yesterday when Mom said… “Bacon is the only thing you need to start out cooking in a cold pan”.
I would have thought she would have sent me the memo about the law change and the parasite being pretty much non existent in pork/bacon now a days.
Ralph brought up a good question for back then though. What did they do for the second pan?
Anyway moving along, I still haven’t tried Bacon Wrapped Corn on the Cob that @stickboy posted several years ago.
Now I’m working on how to bacon wrap my Hamm’s.
February 5, 2015 at 12:07 am #1507270Or was this the type of ham that you were referring to?

Boy would you two hate me in the morn…. Take a two or three lb package of bacon, slice it in half with fillet knife while still in package and ‘squirt’ each half into a big pan over low heat…..after a bit, it starts melting/oozing and a quick stir separates it all into a big greasy, sloppy mess……fry til done!!!!
February 6, 2015 at 9:21 pm #1508252Grilled Cheese and Fried Peanut Butter Sandwiches… change out the butter for bacon grease that I too save.
Divine!!
Add bacon to that fried peanut butter sandwich BK! My Dad raised me on peanut butter and bacon. I think he stumbled on it to avoid Mom’s BLT day-I’ve never known him to eat a fruit or vegetable more exotic than a potato. Try it, it’s still one of my favorites!
February 6, 2015 at 11:18 pm #1508267I am so with you Reverend!!
I’ll do it next time.
Skippy had peanut butter with baco’s in it back in the 70’s when baco’s first came out.
February 7, 2015 at 6:50 am #1508289Shame on you bacon halvers.
Peanut butter is a secret treasure. Ever had a peanut butter burger? Throw some WHOLE slices of bacon on it and you’ll be in heaven.
Not to throw the topic off track, bu have you ever had peanut butter and jelly chicken wings? num
February 7, 2015 at 3:15 pm #1508376Top it with brown sugar…
Ok Mr. Gill, I was on a mission to get cut up bacon.
Now that I’ve accomplished that feat…what the ‘ell are you talking about?!
Doesn’t the BS burn while frying??
