Own a Navionics card? Don’t miss out on 1 ft HD contours included with every product. Normally, you will see Nautical Chart by default, but you can easily switch to SonarChart™ anytime. Here’s how:

Humminbird – press the Menu button twice, go to the Chart tab, press the down arrow to Chart Select and choose SonarChart™ (FishN’Chip on older models). Video

Lowrance, Simrad or B&G – press Menu, select Chart options, then scroll down or select View, choose Fish’n chip. Video

Raymarine – press Menu, Presentation, Chart Selection, then choose SonarChart™. Video

Instructions may vary; check the owner’s manual for your model.

SonarChart™ is continuously improved as we integrate sonar data sent by boaters like you. Take advantage of the extraordinary detail by learning how to read the contours, and update your charts often. You can also create new maps for any area in real time with SonarChart™ Live!

When your chart updates subscription expires, you can order a new card with up to 50% off. If you have an older card from Navionics or another brand, you can get SonarChart™ with Navionics Updates at a great price.

@Kirt so, I just picked up a 7 Gen3 TotalScan and it came with a Navionics chip, I forget which one at the moment, and when I look at areas of Northern LOW and this chip has the same data as my older Navionics chip which is no contours, just sporadic depth readings and hazards marked. When I go on the Navionics web app, I can see the same thing, but if I click on sonarcharts on the app I see very detailed. Are you saying that the chip I already have will show this detail? I will have to check it out tonight.
Here are a couple samples from the web app of the same area showing the difference. Its pretty amazing.

You have to download the SonarChart Data to the card, it comes preloaded with Nautical chart or base mapping. Then make sure you select the SonarChart or FishnChip setting on the lowrance

Ah, thank you! That’s the “freshest data” they always talk about. Makes sense. Sucky part is that my laptop has bitlocker drive encryption installed so I cannot use it to download anything to an SD card, etc because it gets encrypted making it useless in any device.
I have to figure out some other way to get the data on there.

You can do it off any computer, just log into your account. Where are you located?

Maybe I could help you out.

I will figure something out. I am in the St Cloud area. Due to security concerns I cannot use my work laptop since it has bitlocker encryption. I tried my son’s and wife’s school laptops and both were locked down so I couldn’t run the “installer” once it was downloaded.
Then I tried our 3 laptops at home. The one had high promise but when I got the installer running, there was some glitch in it that I couldn’t see the full screen to even following the instructions. It was like there was a menu bar at the top about the size of one line of text and I could scroll it, but not read anything. The other two I tried, one the SD card reader didn’t work and the other was too old (Windows XP). So, I was having some issues :-). I will probably head to my parents this weekend and try their laptop or if I can find my USB adapter I could try that with the SD card in it in the machine that the SD port didn’t work. I have some options LOL

As the old sports cliche goes I persevered through adversity.
I used an sd/usb adapter and was able to complete the update last night. What a difference for the area of lake of the woods we fish in June.
@kirt do you know how this mapping was attained? I know there was detailed mapping by some Canadian cartographers but it wasn’t available to our chartplotters. Did they work out a deal or was this mapped otherwise? Looks very good hopefully it’s accurate.
I don’t trust any map 100% but it would be nice to habe finer detail than I previously did.
So far it looks pretty dang good because like I said before I found a few spots and mapped them myself before and they are in this chip. Now the question is should I tell my buddy who runs the other boat? He kicked out butt last year in big fish I might just keep this to myself right now. Lol

I can confirm we have not added data to LOTW recently. I suspect he is looking at sonarcharts and the result of crowd sourcing from peoples contributions.
