How to clean a Blackstone – after possum poops on it

Yeah its disgusting and I want to just throw the whole damn thing away. Cooked burgers last night and did not cover up the griddle. There was a possum on it this morning, eating through the grease trough. He pooped on the griddle several times, very smelly. I’ve used a disinfectant and high heat. Before I use this again (if I ever do!) – any suggestions to get it really clean? Maybe use a wire wheel? BTW, possum poop smells really bad

Don’t overthink it. Soap and water would have removed it before you baked it on with high heat.

Don’t over think it, it’s cast iron I would do the deep cleaning method, then re condition it and then I would sacrifice some cheap bacon or burger for the dog or cat. Then I would cook on it again.. just my two cents.. definitely gross though. 😂

Why sacrifice when there is opportunity to serve it to family member or neighbor you don’t care for lol

Go to a restaurant supply store and buy a “grill brick” and clean it. It will be good as new and as long as you didn’t throw it out on the internet nobody will know.

Clean it off as you have done. Scrape off anything caked on. Wipe with bleach. Reseason the cast iron and move on. Good to go. I think the wire wheel is over kill. Ill bet you never forget to cover it again. lol.

The bleach and high heat should do it. But I would also look for a good cover.

I’d clean the grill after I shot the possum. Then I’d cook on the possum on the newly cleaned grill.

The first thing you should have done is shoot Mr. Possum.I would then clean it reasonably good and sell it \ gift it to someone you don’t
particularly care for.Hell tell them a Blackstone can even make possum taste like Waygu beef as a sales pitch.

Looks like a hit & run by Mr. Brock. Oh well, it was entertaining.

    X2
Between Ken being kind of a plain name and this story gaining notoriety, I think eyeguy has it nailed… for both profile pic and permanent new moniker..

    All in agreement, say Ay!

Think you got more then poop to clean up. I think he was humping your grease trough looks strangely creamy around his tail area.

Nothing is IM-POSSIM-BLE. Even though it is a bit of a shitty situation, I am sure you can get it off.

Since this subject is not dead yet I have to ask what worked?

I was thinking maybe Iowa Boy (Sheldon) with his post over the weekend already helped him out.

Ya, he already brought it down here, when it was over he asked where it was at.
I said, over there, up there, down over here and the rest hasnt come back down yet.
