What is the shallowest you have iced walleyes on Mille Lacs?

We spear in cove bay. It’s crazy how many big walleyes are swimming through in 8′ or less

As long as they can fit between the ice and the rocks.

On purpose as shallow as 6.5’ setting tip ups on top of a rock pile.

Unintentionally as shallow as 4’ fishing late season panfish in Isle bay.

There are folks who will leave a house in 8 FOW on a shallow rock pile all season long and continue to do well morning/evenings.

My buddy has a permanent out of Lybacks and he sits in the weeds in 10 ft and pulls in giant walleye and pike all season long. Doesn’t get the numbers you can get from other spots but the quality of fish is insane.

7 FOW. High risk, high reward. Been skunked more than a few times trying this at dusk and into the early evening, but it’s a very good chance at catching the best fish of the trip.
