How much line behind planer boards?

    How much line do you let out before snapping on your boards fishing small cranks in shallow to medium water?
    I haven’t done it in so long I cannot remember.

    Don’t you use the dive chart for the crank your using? Say it says 80ft to get down 10ft then you clip the board at 80ft then?

    All depends on what you’re pulling. 10ft to 100ft! Sometimes they want the flicker shad in 3ft of water. Sometimes an original floater 7ft down on weed lines!

    Not sure what I was thinking. I will just determine the depth of the lure in relation to fish and bottom then send it out on the board.
