How much did they weight?

Been smallie fishing lately and have caught some personal bests. The first one was 20in and I didn’t get a weight on it. The second was 20.5-21, measured it fast. The scale said that one weighed 4.78 but i have read that a 21in smallie should be over 5lbs and that one definitely had some weight on her. Do you think the scale was correct? Which one do you think was bigger and how much do you think it weighted?

I hate my smile lol. I tested my scale at home on a 5lb weight and it varied from 4.5 to 5.2 but usually went 5. But I forgot to mention we also weighed it on my friends scale which said 4.5. I just have a real hard time believing that it wasn’t over 5. Anyone think the first fish is bigger than the second one?

Personally 4.5 looks about right, but I wasn’t there. It’s your fish call it what you want. You will be the only one that knows if you are stretching it. Only things that matters is you had fun and it should have been a healthy release in these temps.

    Go get some more.

Hence why i never bring a scale!

It’s impossible to think anyone can measure or weigh a fish based off pics. Any smally over 20″ is great fish to brag about and those look like some hogs! nice work.

I never trusted my scale with the pond bass. I’d see guys on TV catching bass that looked about the same size as my 5# bass, but theirs were eyeballed at 8#. coffee
