For those of you that fish out of a hub often how many guys can you comfortably fish out of one? Let’s say the 63 Sq ft new otter lodge hub. I would guess 2 for sure but would 3 be comfortable?

I used an Eskimo Quickfish 3 for two years before the piece of junk fell apart… It says it will hold 3 anglers but that all depends on the size of the angler(s). I can only think of one time where I fit 3 anglers in there comfortably. It was me, 5’9″ 170lbs, my buddy (same dimensions basically) and his 5’5″ wife. I take my brother who is 6’3″ and 300 lbs and it became a one man tent pretty quick. The dimensions on the tent are 90″x90″ from hub to hub. Eskimo’s website states it’s 34 ft of fishable area and will hold 3 anglers. Again it really depends on the size of the occupants. I enjoyed the tent when I was on solo trips and even two of us wasn’t awful if we were around the same size. I just wish the tent would have lasted longer…. not very impressed with the quality of it.

I’m looking to purchase a new hub style tent and I’ll probably upgrade to a bigger size just for the roominess factor alone. The set-up and take down isn’t terribly different from a 2-3 man and 4 person tent

Also a lot depends on just how much equipment each guy is wanting in the tent. Things such as lunch box, bucket of extra poles, locator for each man, space to get up and turn around, pulling up lake trout or panfish, two holes per man verses one hole per man, etc. Much different than say just three guys sitting on a bucket using one pole apiece and nothing more.

I have fished out of the Clam 8’x14′ hub. Not sure what the model name is but its the biggest they make. We have fished 6 out of it quite comfortably. As others have said just depends how much gear you and heaters you bring inside with you. A good place to check them all out is during the Ice Fishing Show the first part of December.

Clam also makes the six pack which is a 6 hub design and the otter lodge witch is same thing basically but 115 sq ft i think. My brother bought the clam and set it up in his living room. That was the only thing that could fit in the living room. I would say 4 guys comfortably with all gear. Maybe not eight holes if you are spread out.

I am going to get the Otter lodge hub for me, the wife and the dog with our gear. I would assume I should be able to spread out pretty wide and not have any issues.

PS crappie one of my first ice spots must be real close to your house. We may have to get together this winter for some trips out. waytogo

I fish with my son using the Eskimo 949i. We do use lawn chairs and have a couple buckets weuse as a table between us. That said we are comfortable but no room for a 3rd.

I guess it will depend on what you will tolerate. I hate fishing (boat or fish house) with clutter and crampt space.

I also have a 949i and we fish 3 often. Its listed as 3-4 but 4 would be tricky. they suggest you all sit in the middle with your backs to each other and drill holes in each corner. We make 3 work very easy if you position the holes right. Just always figure the lower number for the max comfortable.
My buddy has the original Clam 6pack and that is too big for the two of us. We end up running two heaters (its not insulated). So going to the biggest isn’t always the best.

I have the Eskimo Quickfish 3 and 6120 fat fish. The Quickfish 3 size is tight for 2 people, the 949 is comfy for 2 and fine for 3, the 80 sq ft 6120 is great for 4 people. I can’t wait to replace them with otter hubs though!

I have the clam bigfoot xl 4000t. I have fished 4 people two holes each and she tight. 3 is not bad and 2 is perfect. With 4 I found two in each corner and all the chairs in the middle. If you only had a hole for each person the setup would be better. Tough to get out of the house in a hurry with holes next to the door. Not the most interactive setup but fishable.

I had a Clam Jason Mitchell Pro Thermal 5000 – the thing was awesome and I loved it…comparable to the new Otter Hub but with heavier, more flexible poles. Great for taking the gf and kids out in. I’m in the market for a 2-man pullover now, when I get some $ saved up.

Depends on the hot tub, really depends on the guys, wild cards are booze and the promise of women.
