Am thinking we should either start an IDO fantasy BPT/Bass league – or –

…a drinking game based on how many ounces Mike Iaconelli is off every time he hooks a fish. For instance, when he screams “GIANT!!” bet on the over/under of 1 pound 8 ounces. Or, when he yells “OH MY GOD, a 4 POUNDER!!” Predicting how many ounces below four it actually is and that’s how many ounces you have to drink..
    yay

We wouldn’t make it through the first period. I love Ike his antics are for show, super guy off of the camera!

Was watching Redcrest final today while on the exercise bike… best line of the entire event:

Fred Roumbanis’ boat official told him that Mike Iaconelli is finally on the board and the last of the 10 anglers to record a scoreable bass – the official said it was 1 pound 3 ounces…

Fred turns to the camera smiling and says “sounds like a GIANT…”

Roumbanis seems like he’d be a really fun guy to hang out with. I’ll say again, as nuts as Ike is on camera he’s a really great guy in person. A buddy of mine ran into him up at a bar on Mille Lacs where Ike was shooting a youtube video with the owner of Rapala on the ice. My buddy said “don’t want to bother you but just wanted to say I’m a big fan” and Ike kicked the chair out and told him to sit down and shot the breeze with him for a good 20 minutes.

Agreed, I know some people in the Berkley world that say the same thing… great family guy, great 1:1 to talk to, and the on camera antics are just his shtick..

Remember fishing the city limits or whatever it was called? One of my favorite episodes is when he ran into a young kid fishing a pond. I think most of the show was him helping and teaching the kid.

I have never been bothered by his antics. In fact I liked KVD until they had that fight on the water. As I remember it I think I sided with Ike.

I’ve meet Ike several times. He seems like a truly great guy. Is his profession you need to find a way to stand out to make a little extra money. His antics are just the way he found that works for him. I missed seeing him last year on the BASS coverage. I hope he is one of the fishermen who finds his way back to BASS someday.

Well the 1st FLW tourney of the year started today on Sam Rayburn in Texas. It looks like a few Minnesota Boys are off to a good start so far. Andy Young has 5 for 10 Lbs. and Josh Douglas has 5 for around 8. I believe there are 4-5 local fishermen fishing the FLW this year. The bite on Rayburn has been off due to some weather fronts moving thru the area. On Rayburn you never know, your next bite could be a 10 Lb. fish so it seems like no one is really ever out of it there.

Stop #2 for the FLW starts today. Looks like they have excellent conditions. I would think there should be some good bags of fish caught. Once again a fair # of Minnesota fishermen fishing. It sure would be nice if a local guy could do well in Florida. I sure wish that FLW would have some live coverage prior to the weekend. I’m to busy doing my own fishing on weekends to watch the coverage. I sure envy these guys. Fishing in sunny warm Florida while I’m sitting here in this frozen tundra hoping its warm enough to go fishing without worrying about loosing fingers to frost bite.

Last time I checked there were some weather/wind issues, and looked like Josh Douglas was the closest Minnesota guy to the Top 10. Could be an interesting finish.

I agree it would be nice to be fishing open water in nice weather (soon!)

I just haven’t been into it this year. I’ve watched maybe 15 minutes of live coverage. I have followed the results. Josh Douglas is having a good year so far. The rest of the MN boys not so much. I have been a little obsessed with the coronavirus virus pandemic since late January.

Bassmaster classic starts tomorrow. I’m looking forward to the live coverage. Bass by far offers the best live coverage. It would be nice to see local boy Seth Feider have a Great Tourney – I know he caught a few big fish during practice

For those of you who don’t know Seth feider. he is a rather down to earth and funny guy. Watch this video to see him talking about how best to take a dump from a boat and how he once was taking a dump just as a Amtrac train passed by with ever one looking out the window at him

Finally – Able to watch some live bass fishing again. Looks like the 2 Minnesota boys are doing ok. Basstrakk shows Feider in 41st and Felix in 50th. It sounded like Feider had a good practice. I was hoping he would have had a better day. I guess that’s why they call it fishing – Every day is different.

It looks like a good rebound for Feider today. Looks like he has one of the heaviest bags of the day. It currently looks like both him and Felix have a shot to make the top 40 and be fishing tomorrow. The coverage has be excellent as always

Anyone watch the remaining 10 anglers on Saturday? Crazy comeback for Gross, with a huge limit of fish. And even more crazy that had it had not been for LeHew having a counting/culling error that cost him with a 2lb penalty, Gross would not have even been fishing on the final day and Canterbury would have won.

Some excellent fishing going on on the St Lawrence river. 5 Smallmouth for 27+ lbs. leading after day #1 and like 15 guys with over 20 Lbs. Nothing better than 4-5Lb. smallmouth fish after fish. There is a possibility that the winner may end up with 100 Lbs. at the end of the 4 day tourney. That is crazy to think someone may average 5Lb. a fish for 20 fish. The are covering it on ESPN all 4 days so that is way cool as well.

25+ pounds for smallmouth is pretty ridiculous. Usually the weights are lower when they move north and target brown bass instead of the bigger LMB they catch down south. The first year they went to Mille Lacs (2015?), Feider piled up 75+ pounds in 3 days and I’m convinced that if there was a 4th day he would have broke the 100 pound barrier.

They talked about Seth’s 75Lb. at Mille lacs today. This would be the fist time the 100Lb. mark has been broke on Smallmouth. Unless the wind gets really bad tomorrow and Sun. I think it will be broken.

Man would I love to take a trip to the St. lawrence to catch these fish.

Another days with some monster bags of fish weighed in. 2 Guys over 50lbs. and 10 over 40Lbs. The Minnesota boys are both doing OK. Seth is sitting in 21st after back to back 19 1/2 Lb. days. Felix slipped a little today with only 13-13. He would have been sitting good if he could have had another 20 lb. limit again today. The wind is supposed to pick up tomorrow and even more on Sun. It should be fun to see if many will try and tackle the big lake with those higher winds.

That a bummer. I wanted to see them hit that 100 lb. mark. The higher winds on the final day did not help. It was still a fun tourney to watch. The next one should also be another SM slugfest. I think there will be more mixed bags of both SM and LM in this next one.
