Good to hear about a open being held at Leech Lake. Late Aug. is not the best time of the year to have one there, but I’m sure they will catch some nice weights anyway. I think a tourney later in the fall or early spring would have been better at showing how good of a lake Leech. It will be interesting to see if many can figure out the SM bite out there. Or if everyone will mostly focus on the LM

Leech can be on fire or really tough depending on what the weather is doing. I think it is a fishery on the rise right now for bass.
October 13, 2023 at 2:27 pm #2230192B.A.S.S. has formed a committee that is going to review the use of live sonar in 2024 for each of its events. That tells me that they are at least considering a partial or complete ban.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — B.A.S.S. officials announced today that, while they will continue allowing the use of forward-facing and live sonar during the 2024 Elite Series season, the organization is creating a committee of representatives from across the company to continuously monitor the use of live sonar, listen to angler feedback and gauge the technology’s impact on competition, fan experience and bass populations.
As part of the monitoring, the committee will review data gathered internally to evaluate live sonar’s impact throughout the coming season. A review of onboard technology being used by each Elite Series angler will be conducted by tournament staff and the committee at the beginning of the 2024 season. Subsequent surveys of the Top 10 following each Elite event will also cover the time spent using live sonar and the positioning of transducers.
That data will be reported to the committee alongside information such as catch rates and tournament weights to paint a more accurate picture of the technology’s significance to competitive bass fishing.
B.A.S.S. has emphasized that the organization is committed to listening to anglers, fans and industry insiders while monitoring and evaluating the use of these tools and studying how they impact both competition and fan experience.
October 13, 2023 at 5:39 pm #2230215Hmmm, looks like the door, which I figured was shut on Tuma, opened up a crack today with a bunch of anglers in front of him struggling badly. If Tuma can move into the top 15 tomorrow, I think he stands a chance of qualifying. Tuma qualified for the Bassmaster Classic at the Harris Chain. It looks like Ben Milliken has a great chance to punch his ticket to the Elite Series after catching 20lbs today.
October 14, 2023 at 11:00 pm #2230351Well Milliken qualified and Tuma came up 30 points short. Not getting a limit in the boat everyday when he had the bites to do it is what cost him especially at Lake of the Ozarks.
CharlesPosts: 1978November 15, 2023 at 2:48 pm #2236035Jared Lee Going back to bass, should be some news.
I think you meant Jordan Lee. He was permitted back under a Legends exemption because he has won 2 classics. Larry Nixon retired and Lee took his spot.
The previous pro tour he was on, MLF/BPT is reducing their field by like 40 anglers this season so there are going to be a bunch of pros looking to fish somewhere.
November 16, 2023 at 10:00 am #2236148Actually, MLF is still at 80 anglers for 2024; just yesterday they released the roster of anglers for next year’s tour. Boyd had made the comment last month that the tour would be reduced to 50 anglers for 2024, but after meeting with most of the anglers that decision was reversed. Bobby Lane also announced that he is going to be fishing MLF again in 2024 after he wasn’t able to qualify for the Elites through the Open tourneys this past season. There will be 12 rookies on the MLF tour next year, including Matt Stefan from Wisconsin. Some of the long-time pros like Tommy Biffle will not be back next year, based on overall BPT performance.

Didn’t know that. Thanks
November 16, 2023 at 10:33 am #2236160For some reason I just cant get into watching the MLF fishing. I have tried several times and its just not for me. It would be way cool to see a few cross over tourneys. Maybe day one the MLF format and day two the BASS format. I’d like to see how the two groups stack up against each other. BASS coverage team for sure though.

Flipping auto correct.
November 17, 2023 at 3:27 am #2236317Jim Moynagh is going to fish the EQ Bassmaster Opens next year and Tuma is going to take another run at it.
Michael BestPosts: 1233December 11, 2023 at 8:48 am #2241046I seen the 2024 Elite schedule over the weekend.
They are fishing Lake Fork February 29th through March 3rd. Never seen them fish it that early.December 19, 2023 at 9:23 am #2242784For some reason I just cant get into watching the MLF fishing. I’m with you. I think it’s because they had so many different qualifying days and formats and ways of making other events. It was so complicated. I think that’s why a lot of people didn’t get into it. Sounds like they have simplified it a bit this year though. Glad to see Jordan Lee coming back to the good side though. He won the last two or three classics before he went to MLF.

This is getting crazy. Most of these guys have way more $ into the electronics, the Trolling motor, and the batteries than most of us have in total Value of our boats. Way more than mine anyway.
January 11, 2024 at 4:08 pm #2246984That rig is totally Crazy. I’d be interested in hearing what that fully rigged boat cost. Then again like they say – ” If you have to ask, you cant afford it ”

Way more than mine too. But he has to keep up with the other Jones’s on tour to be competitive. I’m actually not even familiar with that brand of boat.
January 11, 2024 at 6:49 pm #2246998Blazer boats have been around a long time in the bass boat market. I remember back in the days of the old Silverado bass tour, there were several guys who had one. I believe they are headquartered in Georgia or Florida. Much more know and popular in the far south. Now that new monster graph company, I’ve never heard of before. The size of these bass boats these days are massive. Those front decks look like you could land an aircraft on them.
January 11, 2024 at 6:50 pm #2246999Nice rig.I believe Blazers are made in FL. so mostly seen down south. They used to be one of the faster hulls on the water.
Alton Jones and Andy Morgan run them.
I hope Seth has a better year then last.riverbassmanPosts: 269January 12, 2024 at 11:39 am #2247086Blazer Boats were made from some carbon fiber material, not really sure, so dont roast me. All I know is a buddy had one and he put 2 holes in the bottom 2 separate times dragging over or getting stuck on closing dams on the Miss. River. Light, super fast hull (1st time going 78 in a boat) but back in 2007 it was super weak material. I’ve owned a lot of bassboats and never put a hole in the bottom of the hull and I don’t take care of my stuff. The huge graph?….has to cost a ton of $$$.
January 12, 2024 at 12:07 pm #2247093I hope Seth has a better year then last.
I hope so as well. Not really sure what the issue was last year. Its possible that it was just a off year. In his profession its simply a matter of a a few small things here and there that can make a big difference. I’d sure like to see Bass change up their schedule a little more from year to year. I think a few more less known lakes would make a difference in some of the year end standings.
January 12, 2024 at 12:10 pm #2247094One thing I’ve noticed a big chance in professional Bass fishing is that some of the major equipment companies must be cutting way back on sponsor $’s or are far less restrictive on the use of only their product. Real common these days in seeing fishermen with various different electronics brands on their boat than in the past. Same with Rod and reels.
January 12, 2024 at 12:11 pm #2247095I’d sure like to see Bass change up their schedule a little more from year to year.
I’d like to see them up north on smallmouth waters outside of the midsummer period. All they do in July and August is stare at their live sonar and drop shot on offshore structure. Its a boring way to fish, and its even worse to watch.
If they had some of these smallmouth events up north when fish were in shallower in the spring, a lot more aggressive shallow water presentations would be the norm.
I’m fine with events on St Clair, St Lawrence, etc but stop doing it during the middle of the summer time.
January 14, 2024 at 3:32 pm #2247462Most of these guys have way more $ into the electronics,
That NBT Marine 21 inch screen is $4,000 MSRP. It is not a standalone product on its own either, it plugs into a Garmin unit.
They also make a 16 inch version which is “only” $3,000.
January 23, 2024 at 5:32 pm #2249636I only watch the Team Challenge I watch on Friday morning.
3 teams of 3 on a different lake each time, different teams too.
I can see what they throw, they tell us what they throw and where and why and talk to each other via headsets so we can hear about strategy, technique and why etc.
“what are you throwing? I got a bladed jig w a green pumpkin bug. Throwing it 4-6 FOW off the weed bed edge. Their catching it right near the edge of the weeds” ………
Kinda like that part. They show the screen and what their looking at sometimes and its a little more fun and casual than the straight up tourneysFebruary 21, 2024 at 3:32 pm #2255616Just a FYI. The 1st Bassmaster Elite event of the year starts tomorrow on Toledo bend. The fishermen’s predictions all seem to believe it will take between 95-100 Lbs to win, so it should be a fun event to watch. Sure sign that spring is close when the elites are back fishing.
February 21, 2024 at 4:40 pm #2255629Looking at the boat wraps for the pro’s fishing the elite series this year, It looks like a fair # of them fishing out of Tin boats this season. That’s way cool to see.
February 21, 2024 at 5:38 pm #2255638I like that a lot of them are ditching the glass hulls now. I follow the bassmasters. Major league fishing is not my cup of tea. Chicken bucket Duckett… not a fan.
Michael BestPosts: 1233February 21, 2024 at 7:05 pm #225565718 years ago I worked in Port Arthur Tx for a year. Drove by Toledo Bend a bunch of times. Wished I had fished it when I was there.
It will be nice to see the season get going again.
