How many are scratching that itch in open water?

Saw this today and it cracked me up. About a dozen guys already out there in flat bottoms. Then these fellas.

Even tho I’d love to be out there catching some eyes….These guys all have me beat. I don’t even get the boat out of heated storage til 4-1.

How many are doing the ice launch?

The itch never stops…..just keep on scratching it

Me and my hundred closest friends were on the river today. I suck at fishing Pool 4 most of the time, and today was no exception jester

November was the only month I didn’t put a boat in the water (rare exception), but only because we had some stellar early ice this year! Also gotta squeeze some deer hunting in too.

My face describes the bite we found today )

When Winter runs long I about go broke because my scratching the itch involves buying more soft water tackle and boat gear.

That’s not the look of a bad day of fishing. I’ll have to get my brother to take his boat out so we can check it out.

I’ve been waiting to use my boat again since I put it into storage last October. Soft water > hard water

Gonna be at least another month or more before all the snow and ice melt but the recent weather is sure helping it.

I find myself in a strange place, actually enjoy the late ice here. Pretty easy to drive out in the truck and setup shop, kids have fun catching metro fishies.

I’m in Southeast Nebraska and we’re about completely open here.

Got on the ice here on Jan 11 (3 inches) and had the last day on February 1.

Enjoy it while you have it.

Scratched the itch Saturday on Pool 2 at the confluence. Slow bite for my boat but managed a couple. Nice day to be on the water!

We could be sitting out for a nice early spring with warmer weather and thinner ice than usual. I think it was the spring of 1987 I remember fishing properties in Eagle Lake in Maple Grove on April 1 and it was 80° outside.

I will see you then the ice has a substantial convenience factor. I can keep my house gear in the truck and strap anytime on the way home from work or when I’m out and about, I don’t have to go home and hook up my phone which already hates me.

I think it was the rod wink
As long as I am out fishing I don’t care if it is hard water or soft water.

    Actually,
The new spot was a total Boston and it took me about an hour and a 1/2 to get off the Lake. I buried the side-by-side. This was out front of my place on Rosie. And I did have a killer new jig stick

In 2012 it was 80 degrees in St Paul on St Patricks Day. I’ll never forget it because I was there for the old WCHA Final Five Championship at the X and when I walked outside it was a circus of drunks in shorts and t shirts.

I have been on the river all winter long in the boat and haven’t ice fished yet. Have to say I don’t miss it that much.

My boat is all ready to go I have already river fished some from shore with the weather forecast maybe in 2 weeks I’ll find a puddle somewhere for the boat. I put all ice gear away on Sunday. I like ice fishing but once the open water calls I can’t wait.
