I do know of a lot of people in our industry who keep all of their employee’s working during this time, they would have probably had to have laid them off or let them go without the PPP loan. I would say that you saying you highly doubt anyone in our industry needed the PPP loan, would be you now making assumptions about other peoples financial needs

No, that’s not an assumption of their financial needs, it’s understanding of how insurance agents get paid and this 2/3 month period having little to no impact on their income.

Like I stated in the original post – I think I’ll go out for dinner tonight and help a local business out.

Back on topic, that’s a great idea and I wish I could get a Marnanteli’s Chicken Taco Pizza in the cities!

Ruben sandwich at Stanleys in NE.

Too many things there that are great, that certainly is one of them.

We usually do happy hour there so some brisket nachos and Tito’s lavender lemonades are bomb diggity on a summer day.

No, I won’t be going to a dine-in restaurant for a long time yet. I know a lot of people just want to think COVID is over because the prez says it is, but it ain’t.

In the meantime, we’ve been trying some really good east metro takeout options:

    1. Bub’s Australian Pies – Woodbury/Lake Elmo. Australian-style meat pies. Awesome. Terrific change of pace. The indian-curry pie is a freaking work of culinary art.

    2. Katrina’s Mexican in Oakdale. Love this place. Buried in a strip mall so hard to find see from the main road, but just look for the line of people standing in front of the world’s most un-inspiring strip mall storefront. That’s the place. Order whatever. It’s all good.

    3. Acapulco in Woodbury is doing a “Mexican dinner” series where it’s a whole prefab dinner for 4-6 in one jumbo bag. Just terrific. We did the taco dinner and foolishly ordered appetizers too. Ug. That was last Saturday and I’m still full.

Been doing it here for a few weeks. The places that are open have not been crowded at all. The restaurants have been spacing by more than one table.

Been doing lots of takeout but we weren’t big going to restaurant people before all this so I don’t see us eating in anytime soon

This seriously has to be the best deal I have ever seen. $40 and I got dinner for my family of 4, 2 teens amd 2 adults, still have leftovers for me for 2 days and the boy gets a few quesadillas out of leftovers as well. We normally upgrade to the fajitas beef and fajita chic for $10 comes with peppers and onions also.

Not packed, hiding in our booth. We are very careful with our covid as well. Feel it’s safe. If too many folks we just leave.

2 months ago I said no. Then we were on a patio day one on June first. A bit of happiness and normalcy has more value than I initially expected.

Not for about a year, and I’m talking the Sartell one, only been to the cold spring one a couple times. Some of the best ‘Sota style around, and the best taco pizza imo

Acapulco in Woodbury has awesome food! I’ve been there a few times in year’s past. I didn’t know about their Mexican meal deal thing… although from the sounds of it that would be WAY too much food for just me LOL.

I’m day dreaming of being able to eat at a restaurant like normal again, but it’s too soon for me yet. I’d rather give the whole Covid thing more time. Billy and I didn’t go out to eat too often anyway, but when we did I enjoyed it! And I know of a few people who’ve been waiting patiently to take me out for a burger, beer, and a nice talk to catch up since Nov. I look forward to it! grin

It’s funny that you think that is the reason people are re-engaging life.

I have no problem going out eating or doing anything else. From day one. If you are worried, stay home. Have relatives or friends bring you your needs. This is ridiculous.

Hmmm… riots are fine. Going out to eat or shop as usual is bad. Wierd.

Oops a misspelled word. Sorry Matt

    Yep! Protests were encouraged.
Arrest small businesses for trying to make a dollar. Don’t arrest the looters and rioters destroying businesses!!

As they say down under… Good on ya, Matty.

Thanks for telling me about the upgrade. After getting the take out meal last Friday, I’ll need to eat again in just 4 days… Probably.

The President didnt say it was over. Many people are tired of running and hiding for such a low risk scenerio. You are 10 times more likely to die in a car crash. Stop driving if your scared.

Good gravy, there’s an Aussie pie place down there?!?! If there is ONE food item from Australia that I wish was more prevalent around here, it would be meat pies! Hands down is the meal I most look forward to each time we go down to visit family (my mom is from Newcastle; I was born there as well). Definitely will be stopping by there next time we’re in the Twin Cities.

When we were still in lockdown mode we decided to try a new restaurant to help support during a difficult time by doing the take out. The food was just okay in my opinion. We decided to give it another try when things started opening and the food was like night and day. After dining in, it is now a new favorite. Some food may do well as take out but some is just undeniably better hot from the kitchen to the table.
