How many days could you fish Canada wilderness without contacting your family or friends? You would be able to visit other boaters and strangers in town. You would not have phone or internet, tv contact. Yes you are fishing solo. My personal best is 20 days several times in my life.

I have no interest in being totally cut off from the outside. I would need a radio or TV for sure to do a bunch of days. I’ve done fly-ins where after 6-7 days of isolation I’m ready to come out.

I like fishing but not that much. Ruffing it nowadays for me is staying at a resort with only a pizza oven and no pulltabs.

I can go weeks at a time without contact from friends or family (except the girlfriend) so going to the middle of nowhere for a couple weeks wouldn’t be a big deal in that regard. As long as I have myself to talk to I am good.

20 days, by yourself ? That is a loner, I am not that. After 10 days with a group of guys remote fishing, I am ready for some outside noise.

in all honesty I could do it for several years,it may sound silly but its always a dream of mine to be a loner in the wilderness the rest of my life.
too bad I have a wife at home keeping me here,ya,I know,,,,,,,,,,,,.
if they ever tell me I have a terminal disease, you would never hear from me again as I would literally take a hike living out what days I had left.

That’s a tough one. With zero contact I don’t think I’d want to go much longer than a weekend.

Every year I go to Canada and fish a remote lake from a remote island. Every year I think about what I would have to do in order to survive for the year. Certainly wouldnt enjoy it, but I’ve always thought I could learn SO much by “roughing it” for an entire summer up there. But to answer your question, I’m not sure I could last more than a few days. Too tied up into my phone/social media and Twins baseball to last too long in the summer.

I could easily go for a couple weeks. I’m a loner for sure. I can about guarantee you the FW would not let me head up there alone, however.

When I was younger I would stay at my parents cabin on Vermilion for a week alone. But I had 2 channels on the TV and would pop into the casino occasionally.

Even when I camp now I’m the guy that wanders into others camp sites to start conversations. Since the OP states we can talk to strangers, I’m sure that I could do a month without a problem. What happens if a stranger on the trip becomes a friend? LOL!

X2, I get a few days for solo trips but this would be a different deal. probably would be able to answer the question at the end of 3 weeks.

Week 1: Very cool and digging it
Week 2: Found a rhythm and settled in
Week 3: at the end of the week, now what’s next? Keep going or back to civilization?

Found this sequence to be repeatable when I used to get laid off a lot. Different answer if I couldn’t talk to other boaters or go to town for supplies.

It was said there wouldn’t be any wifi service on Christmas Island. But I could FB and FB message sparatically for all but the last three days there.

It didn’t bother me much except that the FW was expecting a message once a day at least. I knew when she didn’t get anything for the last three days she was going to be panicking (or starting sell my stuff and move me out). I told her I would’ve like to stay for another…month.

When I landed in Hawaii with service I gave her a call. She was just taking inventory of my fishing stuff for Craig’s list. Mildly relieved and told me I wouldn’t be going away for that long ever again.

So in a nutshell, I can handle being cut off from the world but the FW has a hard time being cut off from me. Yes…believe it or not. )

This is very simple to understand and explain. Without us, they don’t have anyone to tell what to do.

It sure seems that the solitude and quiet allows one to refocus your energy and address the priorities in ones life. I go for shorter periods of time and of course with friends and family. However I have learned the most fishing secrets or hot little gems that people will not share with a group. After some of the locals see you around a time or two, they are more friendly than just tourist friendly.
