At least in the Alexandria area, our ice is still tight to the shore. I did not see an extreme warm-up in the forecast. We will be driving for quite a while yet.

I’d say you still have some time. But as always ice can vary greatly on a single lake much less different areas of the state. Make sure you take precautions on whatever lake you plan to go out on and don’t trust the entire lake. Especially as we edge closer to spring. Stay safe and tight lines!
I was out in Wright County last night. Ice is plenty good yet, still some snow on top. Guess the main road and where ever one drives on looks a bit funny. Once the lows overnight consistently stay above freezing, then I start walking.
I’ve only taken the truck out once this year, on a little slough with like 4 feet of ice. Every time besides that we’ve just walked. Even to like 2 miles out, it’s not worth losing the truck through the ice.
I would guess it’s at least 2 more weeks in the west metro, probably more like 3 weeks + considering the 10 day forecast has every night below freezing.
Your Ice in the Hutch area must be way different than in central Minnesota. Unless we get ALOT of WARM temps with some wind, We will be driving out for at least 3 weeks in not longer. I will say that the ice is a little behind most years. The 6″ K-drill was right to the float last week. This time last year I was just able to get thru without the extention.
