How did you meet her?

I bought my first pc in 2000 at 27yo. Never even took a typing or computer class before. I was planning to figure out how to use it to make money or at least find a better job. I kept getting this pop up that I had a free singles ad on AOL Digital City so I figured what the heck. I remember titling it “hunting for my better half” and said something to the effect of “fanatical hunter and fisherman not meeting any ladies in the woods or on the water, so hit me up if you want to come along and don’t if you have a problem with me doing that”. I’m sure it was a lot more wordsmithy and romantic but you get the point. I received a total of TWO replies. I chatted with the first one for a little bit, who came off like a teenager. When she logged off and said she had to go to her job at Burger King, I was pretty sure she was.

Dawn replied to my ad the next day. She lived about 80 miles north, just over the WI/IL border. We had our first date at Bass Pro Shops, followed by lunch at the fanciest steakhouse, Outback. We then went to the swankiest bar along the WI interstate, The Brat Stop, shot some pool and had a few beers. After dark we went to a local pumpkin patch and did a haunted hayride and sat by the campfire for a while. I ended up crashing at her place, didn’t even own a cell phone, and my family thought I’d been murdered because they hadn’t heard from me in almost two days. She moved in with me in 3wks later and we’ve been together ever since.

    Man that’s a great story . Haha

I was hanging out with her younger sister. She came around about a year later and that’s pretty much the story. We’ve been together since 2006, married since 2014

We both worked for a certain MN company that seems to be the center of a lot of local and national headlines these days. I worked in manufacturing and she was an engineer running some of the products we made.

We got into it a few times over SOP’s and other issues, nothing nasty just some bickering. Both of us were in relationships. Fast forward another year, I’m single and take my shot. Luckily, she was also single and she was not shy about agreeing to drinks. I believe I said “I think you owe me a drink for staying late to ship all these pails to you” and she said “when? Today or Friday?”. We agreed Friday would be best, for obvious reasons.

That was in 2015. Married in 2019, kid #1 in 2021 and kid #2 in 2023. Life is good.

Met my wife the first day of college in 1977. We lived in the same dorm, didn’t seriously date until a year after we graduated. She moved to the Twin Cities from Milwaukee, we started hanging out and were married in 1987.
