Will suckers or shinners survive long enough if I set the tip up 40+ feet deep or will they die under the pressure? Im going to be fishing deep for lake trout and was wanting to also set up some tip ups while I Jig.
    Any tips?

No problem lowering and using them at those depths. They will be just fine. If you do bring them back up to the surface, don’t do that too quickly, or the minnows might suffer some internal damage.

Don’t worry about setting them all the way down either. I have had great success setting tip ups anywhere in the water column. I normally go 15′ under the ice in any depth.

    Ifish pro.

I can’t imaging winding up all that line on a tip up. Especially if one takes a big run.

Just shoot some air with a worm blower down its throat to get some serious burping action hah
