How about LED headlight upgrades

Your headlights can be aimed wrong from the factory. People flashing you is a sign they are having problems seeing.

Headlights are DOT approved with the OEM bulb style. When you change the bulb style, it is not DOT approved anymore. It is technically illegal.

I have a Mazda 6 that has a adjustment for aiming the lights depending upon how loaded up you are (so you can lower them if your chunky buddies are in the back seat). It’s just a dial on the dash. I can’t believe this hasn’t become more commonplace, especially for trucks that routinely carry a wide range of loads.

Not really an issue now that I got my Ford F650 Super Duty with the 24-inch lift kit. I’m so high my headlights are shining way over the top of those little 3/4 ton grocery getters that everyone’s driving these days. And cars, well…

I have enough ground clearance that I think I could pass your Mazada 6 without changing lanes by just driving over the top of it. Just sayin’

when its too bright as oncoming, I turn my brights on and will not turn them off if the approaching vehicle turns theirs on. the brights in my 07 GMC will out do any of the new LED ones…….LETS PLAY!

That is really not a very nice thing to do, I hope you never cause an accident while “playing”

    I don’t play nice

My ‘03 1/2 ton with the slanted headlights was bad also for blinding people. I was behind my dad onetime and he kept tapping his breaks. Finally he called me to tell me stop being an a-hole and turn my low beams on. They were on, so I gave him the full experience for a mile or two. Guess I’ve always been an a-hole. But I at least have Chevy to blame.

2016 Silverado, stock LED headlights. Stop flashing me. They are properly aligned, and it came this way from the factory. I’m not going to convert it to Halogens at my expense.

I wish they had a better design, I truly do, but the fact is MOST vehicles are now selling with factory LED’s and we all just have to get used to it. Complain to the automakers.

Have the same truck. Factory headlights are HID not LED. But likely your rear-end is squatting causing headlights to aim up. Happens to me frequently when there is only even a small load in the bed.

Now if I’m breaking the law then that’s another story. I will look into adjusting them though.

If folks are complaining about your headlights by “flashing” theirs, it seems pretty evident your headlight beam is hitting them in their eyes. Note that is says; under any condition of loading. Pulling a trailer does not give one an exception.

I understand what you’re getting at munchy, and Iowa josh above, which is why I aimed my lights with the boat hooked up (heaviest load I tow often). I never said they were factory aimed I said the lights themselves are factory.

Also in 2016 LT models and below came factory with HID while LTZ and high country come with LED. I can assure you they are LED as there are no ballasts and I have had to replace a bulb.

They are aimed per DOT spec while towing my trailer. In non-towing conditions they point slightly lower, which is fine.

Not picking on anyone here Just saying, my rule of the road is to treat others as if they are my mother or father and how would what I do impact them. I will tell you I just got done with cataract surgery for both eyes and night drivin is 100 per cent better now. Prior to that many trucks on low beams would effectively blind me on the road. There are a lot of older people on the road in passenger cars that have some stage of cataracts. Drs don’t like to operate if you can get by but the condition can deteriate fast after a point which is what happened to me.
