Moved to North Dakota in the summer and don’t really know any hot ice fishing lakes I’ve been to audobon and caught some eyes but nothing to talk about. Still haven’t found a good pan fish spot just wondering if you could give me some tips and lakes to try for this year. Thanks!

Its winter dude and in North Dakota during the winter you won’t find any lakes with hot water, hence no hot lakes. You’ll have to wait until summer, barring a weird year, for anything close to hot. devil

By the way, welcome to IDO.

Thanks guys! I’m up in the Minot area I plan on going out tomorrow. Not sure exactly where, hopefully -4 feels a lot warmer than -15 plus wind chill that we had today. Just gotta get out and do it and hopefully I can get on a “hot” spot. Lol

Nelson Lake near Center might qualify as warm. People fish bass from boats in there all winter long due to the power plant warm water discharge. There are also Sunnies and Crappis in there. I have never tried but they say that the fish in there aren’t worth eating because of the warm water.

Lake Darling is close to you and usually good and Devils Lake is only 122 miles away on Highway 2. Ask for info at some of the local baitshops or guys in the fishing department at Scheels.

We’ve “warmed” up to -18 with a moderate breeze. The windchill is somewhere between -35 and -40. It was -21 on the thermometer at 6:30 this morning. Since this current bout of winter is coming to us from the North Dakota area, how cool was it up there? Supposed to be as cold or colder tonight here.

At these temps I think sane people stay at home. Mac and Dons sells a nice fish sandwich if you need fish to eat. Or fish sticks.

Lots of good fishing close to Minot. Lake Darling would be a good place to start for walleye, perch, and pike. Truck or walk out only, no ATV’s, and don’t drive near areas with current like the bridges or harbor mouth at the Grano Crossing launch. SE of Minot has some excellent small lake fishing and as the previous poster said Devils Lake isn’t too far away. Good Luck!
