Hopefully close to being on it’s way out, I assume the current areas are open, any guesses as the when the main lakes open up? I wonder how high the water will be this spring?

Sounded to me on the news this AM,that they closed Cnty Rd.22 south of Richmond because of water from the Sauk River and lakes on the roads……Just what I heard on the news……

The DNR access is completely flooded. It is almost up to Hwy. 22.
The water is VERY high, about the highest I have seen in about 30 years.
There were two brave souls out ice fishing in the rain yesterday off 22 on Horseshoe.
March 26, 2009 at 1:35 pm #762781Wow! almost upto the Highway 22 road? That’s like 10-15 feet higher than normal….I need to head up there asap and make sure everything on my shoreline is still there…How open is the lake? Are the rising waters pushing the ice off quicker?
Can anyone take a quick picture of how high the water is? Maybe of the 22 boat launch?

Here are some pics.
The water is right up to the road by the DNR 22 access.
March 27, 2009 at 1:10 am #763067The water is over Hwy 22 in a few places.
There is some ice on the big parts of the lake, but all river sections are 90% open.
March 27, 2009 at 1:14 am #763071The Cold Spring Dam is the highest I have ever seen it.
Frogtown park is also flooded.
March 27, 2009 at 2:11 am #763099Holy Crap! I need to head up there, first year I didn’t put the aluminum boat up ontop of the lift on the shorline, good thing it’s anchored…Thanks for taking the pics!
March 30, 2009 at 1:22 pm #540208Had a foot of water in the boat house, hopefully we get some major evaporation before opener or I don’t think I can put my docks & lifts in…
March 30, 2009 at 4:06 pm #763837The forcast does not sound good here, we could see up to a foot of snow.
April 3, 2009 at 2:24 pm #765389Any update on the water levels? Has it gone down at all? Trying to decide if I should head up this weekend to get alot of the pre-work done before I turn the water on in the cabin. Water was a foot up on my retaining wall last weekend, so I wasn’t able to do any shoreline work, hopefully it drops enough in the next week or two so I can put the docks & lifts in….
April 3, 2009 at 5:21 pm #765442The 22 boat ramp is still completely flooded.
The water has come down some.
Water is not over the road on 22 anymore.
It is still up to the tar in a few places, but not over.We ended up with about 7-8 inches of snow and it is melting slowly.
Still lots of ice on the big part of Horseshoe and Cedar Island Lakes.
The river sections with any current are all wide open.April 3, 2009 at 10:17 pm #765534thanks for the update, sounds like i’m waiting another week then..
April 7, 2009 at 7:53 pm #766494Any changes this week with the ice coverage and water levels? We’ve had really windy days down in the cities, has it been windy up there?
April 7, 2009 at 8:49 pm #766513The water has gone down some more, nothing drastic.
The snow is pretty much gone.
It has been windy here, but I think it will be another week to 10 days before the ice is out.
It is still getting down in the twenties at night, but the spring sun will win out soon!April 8, 2009 at 5:38 pm #766805Bob,
Thanks for the updates, can you provide one final ice coverage/water level report Friday afternoon? I need to decide to turn the water on in the cabin this weekend or next weekend.
April 10, 2009 at 12:09 pm #767363There is still quite a bit of ice out there yet.
I would say it will be another week or so until complete ice out.
It is still getting in the mid twenties here each night, and it still freezes hard each night. Until we start melting 24/7, the ice will stick around.
Turning water on in freeezing conditions may spell disaster. The water is still high, but going down more each day!
April 10, 2009 at 4:42 pm #767441Thanks Bob, it’s supposed to be 50’s & 60’s next week with rain, that should just about do it for all the ice.
April 13, 2009 at 1:01 pm #767936What a nice weekend! The only Ice I saw left was on Schneider and that was black and honeycombed (should be gone in a few days) Get the boat out next week!
