After a difficult July and start to August, Fishing is finally starting to pick back up. I boated 11 Smallmouth in a 2 hour period Saturday night. Largest was only a few pounds but boy do those guys fight hard (Note – largest fish spit up a large crayfish while fighting near the boat, so try plastic crayfish baits near rocks) Walleyes, although I did catch one small fish is shallow weeds are still deep and will take cooler weather to move them up shallower, probably late September timeframe, that’s when they get aggressive. Also caught a few largemouth bass up in the thick shallow weeds of Becker lake.
