The Fall crappie bite is on now. With the cold weather the typical fall patterns have kicked in big time. Look for the slabs in very deep water. There is still a good year class in there of solid 13 inch slabs.

I am looking forward to the walleye bite heating up real soon. the water temps are getting close!!

    Scott,

What type of areas are you concentrating on this time of year for the walleyes on the Shoe? Sand, weeds, points, etc…? How deep? Techniques?
I have never fished the Shoe in the fall, its always been early ice for crappies.

Thanks Scott, look forward to hearing some good reports from the area.

Steve, the bite is on. Shallow gravel, rocks have been hot in the AM & PM. Casting cranks is the best producer at this time. Some guys are pulling live bait and jigging the points during the day and doing well also. Limits were pretty common before this cold snap.

I spend most of my nights in the bow stand until the Gun season opens so I miss some of the bite, but if the ice holds off, the pigs really bite on the shallow gravel in mid to late November. Casting or trolling cranks will be the ticket.

Scott, Is the bite still going ,even with all this crappy weather? Looking for a place to go Saturday and don’t want to go to Mille Lacs if the weathers going to be really crappy. I have a friend that has a cabin on Ceder Island, Maybe I’ll talk to him.

Chappy, the weather only seems to effect the day bite. The evening bite has been really good still. If you are coming I can stear you in the right direction. I am heading North deer hunting so I won’t be around.

Me too. Maybe when we get back. I’d like to meet you.If the River Roost was still in Richmond, there I’d buy you a beverage!
