Was out tring some spots I haven’t tried before for cats. Pull my best channel of the year from a point on horseshoe. Sorry no pics. But it was 5 pounds 9 ounces on the scale. Pulled her from about 15 fow. Didn’t get any more.
What kind of structure should I be looking for. I’m having a hard time finding cats of any size consistantly. The only weedline I can find is the shallow weeds. Which I can pull plenty of small cats from. But as I go deeper they seem scaterd but get bigger.
I fish other spots on the chain and all I get are small ones. 1-3 pounds….

We were fishing a Bass T Saturday and caught a 4 lb Catfish on a chatterbait. It was in 2 feet of water over by Cedar Island. Another one was caught between the hwy. 22 launch and Horseshoe.

Well, I’m not sure if it was a fluke or not, but my brother hooked into a 9 pounder in Becker Lake. Shortly after, he snagged an even bigger one but made short work of his light line. We were bluegill fishing on the left side of Becker in the deeper part. A couple of bluegill had swallowed the hook so we threw them into shore. About 10 minutes later, we heard a huge splash, looked in that direction, and a large cat tail came up out of the water, took him three times to pull the first gill under. It happened four more times afterward also. When my brother filleted his cat, he opened up his belly and sure enough, there was that small bluegill in his stomach.

From sight fishing, I can tell you Becker and Ceder Island seem to have larger cats compaired to the other lakes. Try the current areas on Koetter lake when it starts to get dark.
