Muskies in the Chain?

I read an artical in the back of the St. Cloud Times last week about Muskies and saw that the Chain of lakes is on a list of probabal lakes in which to stock Muskies.

I think it would be a great additon. Muskies would improve the size of panfish and add yet another fish to chase on the Chain.

That would be great to have another option in our neck of the woods.

That would be Sweet! Hopefully they would keep the carp, suckers and catfish populations in check. Can we keep this post updated with all the latest information?

    Nothing wrong with that idea!!!!

I have yet to see any decent size body of water that holds muskies put any dent at all into other fish populations. However, I would be quite pleased to see Muskies start eating carp on Tonka!!!

amen brother! I tried to search St,Cloud times website for the article, but keep finding dead ends, anyone have a link to the article or could summarize what it said? I’m interested to find out just how serious they are about this.

I think the artical was on 6-25-06. It was a general artical about muskys. Just stated that the chain is a prospect for stocking.

I found a link to the archived article, but the newspaper wants $3 to look at it because it’s older than 1 week, sorry that’s highway robbery. I sent the article’s writer an email asking for more information

Any updates on this yet? I think this would be a great idea!

EDIT: Just did a pretty extensive search but came up empty handed.

I’ve been talking with the DNR fisheries director for our area. The jist of it is that nothing has been determined yet, if anything does happen it will go before the Chain of Lakes association. The 2 lakes under consideration for new Muskie stocking are The Sauk River Chain and Gull Lake.
