Heading to bass fish the Horseshoe Chain October 1st for a 10 boat bass tournament. Does anyone have any advice for this time of year? I have never fished this chain, but it looks interesting. Thanks so much for the help!

With the lack of feedback I assume this chain may be hard to fish. So many lakes to fish within this chain, hopefully we pick the right ones to target.

I wish I could help. We spent a couple labor day weekends up there a few years back. I never hit bass hard and didn’t have much success. Catfish on the other hand I couldn’t keep off the hook.

Yeah, the few times I’ve fished it were for eye’s and cat’s. It’s been a while, but it was very dirty water so should be plenty of slop to cover for the green carp

Thanks for the information, from my research it looks like some of the lakes are better than others for largemouth.

I grew up on the East end of the chain and know that there are plenty of nice bass to be had. I haven’t bass fished on it for 10 year +/-. My memory was that the East end was better for green ones and the West end for brown ones but I am really not much of a bass expert. Also a consideration of shallow vs deep as I have no idea what water temps the chain is a t right now.

How did your tourney go? By now you found out there are lots of quality Bass on the Chain. It’s one of my favorite places in that there is a bunch of different small lakes and you can stay away from the crowds if thats your gig. Like Mike said, Cats galore there also!

We ended up placing 4th with 16 pounds. 18 won it, the other 2 teams ahead of us beat us by a few ounces. It is a fun lake, we had action all day long! I really appreciate everyone’s input, thanks so much!
