I never fished for Whitefish before, But after thinking about the upcoming Get together. So I had to get out and try it. After watching many videos, I headed out to Little Sturgeon in Door County. Set up at daybreak and within an hour there was 2 on the ice. It took the rest of the day to get things right but the last 2 hours of the day was a complete hoot. I never knew a fish could fight like they do. I’m hooked!!!!!!!!!! Can’t wait to go back.

Mower… I hope to head up from Racine on Sunday eve, monday AM. Any details about access and such? I’ve only put in at the boat landing on south side of little sturgeon. Parked there on ice, unladed atv and went by Henderson’s point, and then across bay.

I’ve been keeping an eye on Lake Link… but will take all the info I can get being a couple hours away, and going up solo.

Agree… it is fun!!! I caught everything two years ago on the little slider hook above a kastmaster.

I fished them for the first time last year and am hooked too. They taste good and are super strong. Kind of a quirky fish but fun.

They are great smoked, and good fried. Use a bit of caution bringing them in. They have soft mouth parts.

Sounds like a great time mower waytogo
    What were you using ??

Reports like this are making me anxious to get up there also grin

The area where we are looking at for the GTG is a bit north of there….the size is supposed bigger + the crowds are smaller… wave

I need to go read more… too far off yet for me, but Mudshark… is the GTG heading north to Sturgeon Bay?

If you want to give yourself fits about being there, search you tube videos on green bay white fishing…. some cool little tweaks shown on set up, but a lot of it is pretty common.
