What sizes does everyone use with jigs and plain hooks for different walleye icefishing tactics? I’ve got some friends who swear by a range of different sizes. I’m mainly curious about deadstick presentations with both a bare hook and a small jig like a frostee or glow demon.

I like larger hooks for a deadstick. I think you get better hooksets. I like a # 2 octopus hook.

It all depends on the size of the minnow you’re using.
I use plain hooks in sizes 6 up to 2/0 depending on how big the bait is.
For jigs like demons, I use size 4 almost exclusively. Once in a while I’ll go smaller on a tough bite.
I don’t use anything bigger than about a 3″ shiner or sucker with a demon type jig. Anything bigger and im using some type of a plain hook rig with a larger hook.
