Pretty much bullet proof. Gas in the tank and a charge in the battery and you are good to go. I followed the 20 hour break-in recommendations in the owners manual. The dealer wanted me to use an aluminum prop for the 20 hour break-in period – not sure why but I did wait to put on the SS prop.
I own the 2005 model, change the plugs, oil, and fuel filter once a year. Starts and purrs, amazing how many guys at the landing ask if that thing is running every year.
I am cleaning the carbs, adjusting the valves and changing the water impeller this year.

Thanks, the valves are a breeze since they are post and locknut, no shims or pulling cam(s). I’m not looking for the fastest, reliability and quiet smoothness are paramount. My engine has EFI and the remote control has electronic idle adjust for trolling. How will this motor troll using a standard prop? I’m hoping not too fast, 1.5 to 2.5mph desired. For my boat the recommended prop is 11.25″ x 14pitch in a 3 blade aluminum.
What does a unit like this cost these days?Would not mind one in a tiller,heard they are lots of $$$
I bought my 2017 just last week from Ken’s Powersports in Kaukauna, wi for $4949. It is not a tiller, but one could be added for about $400 and the tiller has all the controls a big tiller would have including power trim and tilt.
