Heading to Homer, AK in early September. Have you gone out with any of the charters there or on your own? Looking for any info on success, how the day went, how you liked the captain, crew, etc. More interested in halibut, but not against salmon. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Questions on this site in the past has put me in touch with great charters in Florida and the Olympic Peninsula so I’m asking again! Thanks, Wayne

My family is in Homer this weekend for my nephew’s wedding. He lives there, so I can ask.

I’ve fished halibut out of Homer many times in August however never in September. I know that many of the halibut charters are shut down and even sometimes our trips were the last ones of the year. I’d check the internet and call a few to see what they say. It is my understanding that halibut tend to move out of the area in the fall.
