Last winter the bug hit me to try making my own balsa crankbaits, a move inspired by all the crafty stuff we saw on a fall trip to door county. Today on our first full day of our trip I was able to get out on the lake and try a few of my ‘home brew’ lures out. This fish was the first cast of the evening jaunt and was followed up with a few more pike afterwards. Felt pretty good for a lure I made from a piece of wire and chunk of flat balsa to work well enough to catch a couple fish.
