So I like the VMC glow treble hooks but they are so dang expensive compared to the non glow versions. Wondering if anyone has made their own with good success? Feel like buying some sort of glow resin and putting a small ball of that on would be a bit cheaper. Also any quality resin suggestions?

You would need to rotate the hook so the epoxy would not all drip off. Like a rod turner for making fishing rods.
You MAY be able to get away with using Devcon 5 min epoxy W/O a turner. Its not a super clear epoxy but probably worth a try first before making or buying a turner. It sets up pretty fast and you could prob. spin in fingers while watching tv…

Add glow powder to epoxy, test amount ratios for desired glow time and brightness as dots on a board before making hooks.

I used Devcon 5 min epoxy and just monitored it for a few minutes pushing up any drip with a toothpick. Good way to make bladed trebles too!

I use soft glow beads. you can push 1 or 2 of them over the eye.
I believe they are Owner brand.

Interesting and simple solution with the beads. I might need to try that.

You’ll have to play with mixing ratios. A lot will depend on the viscosity of what you’re putting the powder into. Generally it doesn’t take a whole lot of pigment to get things working good.

The Owner brand soft glow beads worked out great. The small size 3 doesn’t look like it would work but stretches right over the #10 hook. Size 4 worked better for larger hooks. Thank you for the tip Jeff.
