Last year, late October, Billy and I got out the big pot and made several LARGE batches of our homemade apple pie drink. Some jars are the regular flavor and some are Billy’s variation of Carmel Apple Pie (it’s delicious!). As you can imagine, I still have many jars left. And I’m wondering, how long does this stuff last? Should I be looking to consume/disperse the jars in the next few months before it will be a year or could I keep consuming/dispersing for another year yet?

I’m not sure how you make it, but the way I do it needs to be refrigerated. I make a couple big batches every year and will easily last 6 months in the fridge
August 11, 2020 at 2:00 pm #1964141Oh, I didn’t realize there are different ways… so we would boil all the ingredients except for the boozes until the cinnamon sticks unfold. We’d let the mixture cool to 120 degrees before adding the boozes.
Then we bottle into dishwasher-sanitized glass jars and screw the lids on. The jars seem to seal themselves and we don’t refrigerate until we open a jar. We usually go though our batches within a year, so I wasn’t sure if that’s just because it’s so darn tasty or if it’s deliberate.Coletrain27Posts: 4789August 11, 2020 at 2:55 pm #1964164I guess I usually boil apple slices in mine so I get some apple chunks in the jars and never trusted leaving it unrefrigerated

If you want to have a massive hangover, go ahead and drink them all, but they should be fine. At the very worst, they’ll look/smell funny when you open them. Then, toss them out.

August 11, 2020 at 3:38 pm #1964188You could always use it as parts cleaner.
Dad
Oh it’s not THAT strong, Dadio! Although I usually feel warm and fuzzy after just one glass.
August 11, 2020 at 3:45 pm #1964191I make my stuff the same way and have made the Billy’s version you shared in the past. I would just store them in a cool dark place and never notice a problem. I can’t say I have ever had it last longer than I year but would think you will be fine.
August 11, 2020 at 4:11 pm #1964216Most of the time, lasting is not the problem, whole glass ,no wonder you feel warm and fuzzy. lol! made from ever clear.

I always made mine using 190 Everclear and never worried about it going bad in the three years it took to drink it all.
August 11, 2020 at 5:07 pm #1964231I’ve got one jar left from what I made in February. It’s been refrigerated all along (but probably wouldn’t have needed to be). It will be consumed either Labor Day weekend on the tritoon or at the deer cabin this Fall. From there, we will plan another batch.
August 11, 2020 at 7:00 pm #1964268Lol thanks for the feedback guys! I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t in need of a mad rush to get drank up. Drunk up? Drinked up! That’s it. Friends of mine have a fun Halloween party each year and Billy and I usually bring some to share at the party (along with fun flavors of Jello shots!), so I’ll have to bring some down and we can toast to Billy as we dwindle down his last batch of homemade apple pie.
