Can lay vinyl on the stairs, remove the attached pad if present and sand the back of lvt w 60 grit on an orbital, pl premium to attach, 18gauge to hold as needed, probably need to predrilled as that crap can be hard as heck.

My biggest beef is there’s no good looking stair nose for those, metal is tawdry, typically the kits don’t cover for the 1″ treads. Plus w pets and kids that transition edge from nosing to vinyl can get beat up quick. Lvt isn’t my specialty tho and hopefully someone else has a solution, my vote is always solid hardwood stained best ya can to match trim or flooring. Paint grade risers and plucking out more character treads, which would also help match to the floor, from the pile for cheaper price won’t be all that far off from vinyl cost but have a much better ROI.

Greatly appreciate the comments fellas grin

I guess I’m in the minority when I say I’d rather do my own stuff than something for a customer. (Aside from getting paid) lol.

I scrutinize my work for a customer much more that my own and probably don’t get paid enough for the extra effort in put into something for a customer to make it perfect.

Not that I do a half-a$$ job for myself, somethings just won’t bother me like if the grain of the plywood under my sink runs front to back or side to side. Don’t care myself, but will I cut into another sheet of plywood if it’s for a customer if it’s not side to side. Or slightly changing the design on the fly to make stuff fit in fewer materials without having to explain and ask a customer. etc

Hate home projects, would rather fish! Always takes longer need more tools, just get back from Menards but now you have to go back! Bought a newer house (90s) everything works and is solid, composite deck material (love it) next year I will probably have to scrape & stain about 40′ of fence, yes thats just feet not yards, did not leave off a zero.

Luckily I have a ton of tools and a bunch of buddies that are all tradesman. So if I need a tool I don’t have one of my buddies will have it. This house is a 07, everything works but it’s time to upgrade make it nicer. I could care less about fishing right now honestly, I don’t enjoy the heat. I’m gearing up for bow hunting

At least this wasn’t hardwood and you are leaning over the entire time with the nail gun. So hard on your back. My biggest thing with home projects is that I want to do it first at someone else’s house to learn what not to do. Every time I try something new for the first time on my own, I screw it up, even slightly. And then it will bug me looking at it for the rest of the time in the house.

I agree that LVP seems pretty easy to put down yourself, however.

For stairs, just watch a lot of videos on how to get the stair nose down good enough to make sure they don’t come off. Another option is to just do wood (planks, not strips) and find a stain to match your LVP.

Question- why run the lvp on the stairs? Just curious. I haven’t done it. I like having carpet in the stairs (even though I hate carpet). The boy went down the stairs the wrong way and I feel like there would’ve been blood if they were hard surface. He just got banged up enough to learn the hard way thanks to the nasty ass carpet. It’s also nice to have the extra grip when I’ve been enjoying too many, if ya know what I mean. We have wood steps at the cabin and every trip down them at 2am feels like a potential death sentence.

I just don’t want any more carpet. But I may leave it. Need to look in to other options. I figured lvp, with some form of a grip runner thing going up them. But maybe not. Dammit back to you tube.
Either way I’m heading out fishing. Hung gutters yesterday, did my hallway after and I need the day off.
