I really like the idea of the Stick & Pic holders for trail cams but I did not want to pay $25 for one so I came up with one of mine own. I have about $4 each into these.

I bought some off Ebay, but I can’t find them anymore. They are a bit “crude” but function perfectly. With shipping, I think they were under $12.00 per.

Well I modified my design a bit and mounted a 2×4 on the fence post instead of plywood. This one will not catch the wind like my first prototype did and this one should hold up better against the squirrels. Here is a pic of my modification, I put this one in the same spot where the squirrels where attacking the the thing and making the video look like a earth quake was going on. Later in the week I will post a pic of the damage the squirrels did to the first one.

    Nice little invention.

How is the camera attached to the post? In one picture I can see a strap, but in the latest picture I can’s see how you’re holding it on there.

Do you have to pound it in with a hammer, or can you usually step it in?

I agree re the ridiculous prices that companies want to charge for trail cam accessories like post mounts and tree mounts. There are a lot of post mounts that are closer to $50 than $25.

And of course my favorite screw in tree mount has been discontinued. It as so nice, it threaded in, but then had full tilt and pan like a camera tripod, so you could aim it anywhere. Price was about $15, which is stupid for what it is, but as tree mounts go it was cheap. Got lucky and found one still on the shelf, but dang it now I’ll have to look for a different kind.

    Grouse,
I used a hammer to pound the post in the ground it beats lugging around a post pounder. I hammered on the 2×4 to pound it in the ground but I can see where over time that might crack the 2×4.

Ben that is a great idea thanks for the link, I am going to give that a try. Good to see you made it over to the new site!
