I’ve never seen it like this before. Blocking the sun. Looks like fog here in woodbury and I can definitely feel it. Just WOW.

It smells smokey and you can definitely see the air is heavy.

I hope they were able to get everyone to safety up there!

I worked up in superior all day today and It was thick. Drove back to north branch and some how it’s worse here. Can’t see the trees hardly across the field. Base ball was canceled tonight. Now we are launching the boat

It’s thick enough in Central MN. Not sure where is the worst. Roofing was almost nicer with the smoke cover.
I’ve got softball tomorrow evening. Hopefully you can see the bright yellow ball through the smoke! woot

Maybe a dumb question but you think this affects crops if it keeps up? My thought is, if we go an extended period of time with, say, 60-70% of the sun we’d be normally getting, could the crops get stunted a little?

And my wife says I don’t have any deep thoughts….

You got me, baseball was canceled tonight but the game tomorrow is still on. Until then I grabbed a 6er and I’m headed out fishing

How is this worse than us sitting around a campfire a few times a week? I don’t cancel the kids sports for that.

If we ever got any rain then it could potentially be an issue. Lack of moisture is a much bigger problem than lack of sunshine right now.

It’s pretty bad here by Pool 4. Our house looks at the WI bluffs out the back, and the MN bluffs in the front. Neither are currently visible…and I don’t think it has anything to do with this Crown and 7 while I sharpen and balance blades in the garage

Our crops all look good, but we’re on heavy ground. People on river sand are already starting to get in trouble.

I told my wife that the smoke was likely what’s been hurting her flowers. In theory that COULD be true…but me not remembering to water them while I’m out in the yard could also be a factor

I believe the word you were looking for is “spelled,” not “pronounced.” rotflol

It was a pretty lame reason. Coach said 5 or 6 moms called and said they were keeping the kids home. We pre practiced pitching for a 1/2 hour like typical to warm him up, but after that call I was happy to bail.

The 14 works at the local pool and said there was plenty of kids out today still.

Her asthma doesn’t do well w it, certainly wouldn’t have done sports but she still wanted to work

They cancelled adult softball in MSP and a few other cities, and most kids sports that I’ve seen…I took the day off to work on the hunting land yesterday, and appreciated the lack of sun and didn’t notice my lungs burning. Pretty weak to cancel things imo, now get off my lawn! rotflol

    It’s our world now.
8 mile bike ride – did not have any difficulty breathing.
It’s another avenue for the weather kids to tell us how unsafe it is outside.
Cancel school when it’s Zero degrees
Cancel school/youth sports when its 100 degrees
Three inches of snow, better stay home from work/school
Two years of masks now they’re gonna start recommending them for outdoors. We’ll look like China soon.
It’s Global Warming AGAIN – don’t you know that “Jane you ignorant -lut”?!

I’m in eastern Iowa and it’s smoky down here. I was just texting my wife about it.

The air quality is a real issue, I have asthma and it has certainly been noticeable yesterday and today. Everyone take care of yourselves and if anyone has concerns about their own health, there isnt anything wrong with that.

Yeah I certainly don’t think it’s a bad thing to play it safe when the air is this nasty- especially as disgusting as it was yesterday. It literally smelled like burning tires… With my headlamp on after dark you could see bits of ash floating around everywhere, as if you were sitting next to a campfire!

But still, some will say, “tough it out, sally!” And I attribute that to lack of oxygen in a developing brain jester rotflol

Got to be tough on engines too, I’d imagine… especially ones demanding high performance. I’m curious how much fuel economy drops on average, if it’s a measurable difference…

I have asthma. Wednesday late afternoon and evening I was in my backyard sporting an N95. Didn’t taste or smell any smoke. Go figure!! Without the mask, it was nasty. frown

It makes it all the way to central Iowa. I can’t smell smoke but there have been a lot of hazy days this last two weeks. Visibility seems to be about a mile or two for no reason. The news mentioned it one time.

I was in NW Ontario last week and from what I have seen here from people posting pics etc you had nothing compared to what we did it was absolutely nasty. You could actually taste it. Could only see a few football fields in length, but we had the best day of fishing of the week. Weather was terrible overall. Lows in low 40’s and highs most days around 60 none of which was in the forecast before we left so some were not prepared for that.

It was bad yesterday but seems to be clearing out today. I actually had symptoms yesterday and never have before. Today both my wife and I have ear ringing.
Actually like many here I ALWAYS have ear ringing but its really bad today and one of my ears is plugging up. Anyone else have any ear issues from the smoke?
If not then its just a coincidence and Im coming down with something the day before vacation…… bawling
