I like it. I made a similar mod for my old vex. I made extensions between the base and the part you look at so it sits higher. Perfect for walking around. I get a stiff neck on hole number 15.

X2 that’s what I was going to say. So do the new Folgers coffee tubs. I used to throw jib boxes, bait, etc in them and put them on the sled when dragging stuff onto the lake by foot!

I hole hop with my 1-man on a Smitty.

    Flip up shelter.
    Stand up.
    Set rod on seat
    Grab flasher with one hand
Grab rope for 1-man with the other
    Walk to next hole
    Set down flasher
    Grab rod
    Sit down
    Flip down shelter
    Fish.

I do this as fast and nearly as effortless as the bucket hole hopper.

Works great so people don’t see you catching fish.
Works better on windy days where out in the open windy conditions make line twitch bites hard to detect due to line bow.
Heater stays on in the sled. Lures, beer, etc all on hand.

    Works great.

Smitty is a term used by another site for skis on the bottom of your shack or sled. Smitty was the man who invented it….. I know everyone of us has knowledge of at least on old timer that pulled his shack or dark house out on a sled type aperatus many many years before the Internet was invented but they seem to think this was an original thought and thus go around worshipping his creation “THE SMITTY SLED”.

I run holes with a graph mounted to a plastic shell box with a RAM mount. Two pvc rod holders on the side, transducer holder on the top. Bait puck attached with Velcro, plenty of room on the inside for a tackle box/plastics. I usually keep a towel and pliers in there as well. Graph fits back inside for transporting safely.

It keeps the screen up much higher than the normal mount would. I’ll never go back to a standard depth finder mount

My FL-18 bucket, travel on foot with the minimum of equipment, small jet sled & 4.5″ hand auger.

I know this is a bit old but check out the Sonic Ice Hopper from Sportsmanship Direct. It is by far the best way to hole hop with a flasher.
