We are going to holcombe this weekend to try and find some fish. We haven’t been up in years so I was wondering if anyone could point us in the direction of some crappies and nice walleyes. I’ll leave a nice report afterwards.

    Hi EauClairboys,
My parents live on the lake. We are scrambling to see if we have a boat to use this weekend due to some engine issues and weather preventing the docks from getting in, but hope to get out somehow.

Most Walleye action will be at the mouth of the rivers. Main Creek, Deer Creek or the Jump. We have had good luck just pitching jigs with half of a night crawler on them or plastics. You can also get a few on bobbers. In the past we have used leaches this early, but I think the temp is too cold. Crappies I don’t know where they would be. My guess is in deeper water near where they will be spawning. Have a good safe opener.

Any good reports? For most of the people we talked to it was slow.

On Saturday we got a carp one 14.5 inch walleye two sturgeon and 4 bass.

Sunday just one 17.5 inch walleye.
