I am heading up to Lake Holcombe, WI this weekend for a wedding and bringing my boat along. I want to target crappies but have never fished them in a northern WI lake this early in the season. Any tips on where to start (structure wise) and presentation this time of the year?? I see the Holcombe forum is not used very much. Any help is appreciated.

My parents have a place on Holcombe. We did not fish for them on opener but caught a few a week before. They were about 6 feet down over 10-20 feet of water. Best option was minnow with a slip bobber. Depending on where you are staying you may be close to some cribs. I would try there first. Good Luck

I’ve been fishing Chetek area they are in back bays on beds six inches of water eating everything pink and white ice jigs with waxies, pink jig n minnow under bobber seen a guy fly fishing and catching also.99% males so the best is yet to come. Also caught some staging outside of back bays along with some jumbo perch and gills mixed in fun times.
