Is there a good tool out there that will close hog rings when using natural casings when processing meat? I have a hand tool that will work for summer sausage casings (going to small zip ties next time I make summer sausage). I am looking for a good tool that will work when we are making baloney and would like to get away from hand tying. Anyone know what the butcher shops use? There has to be something affordable that the smaller shops use? Thanks. Shawn

I just realized the link went to the automatic pliers. I have the manual.

Randy, How tight can you get the hog ring to close with this tool? Thanks.

Figure half of the original size. 1/2″ staples go down to about 1/4″. I use mine for hooping beaver, so about all I use is 1″ or 3/4″. I don’t try to close them down for the purpose of sealing a casing. I don’t even know how small of a staple you can go down to

Shawn, I’ve gone to the smallest cable ties for my ring baloney and will never
string tie again. We tried the hog ring pliers for baloney and the results were not good.

Start the loop and run both casing tails through the tie loop twice and cinch it up.

I bought 200 @ FF tonight. They are the 4″ and the smallest they had. Does that sound like the right size? And these are for hog casings for baloney that you did. Right? Thanks Jim.
