Never done it. Recently cooked and ate some was awesome. Looking for advice/recommendations.

Hoping to do a short hunt in the upcoming spring or winter. Want a 1 day drive from Minnesota.

Looking not completely do it yourself but maybe a guide. Not interested in a ranch setup shooting one stuck in a fence.

Would be the wife and I both each hoping to get one hog.

South of Oklahoma City and just into Texas north of Dallas you can get into decent hunting. You could do that drive in a long day.

A little bit of googling will yield a lot of results for outfitters. Most charge by the hog but I have found one or two that are a flat fee and no limit. It’s a blast, I recommend it! Oh yeah, and good eating! Just make sure you cook it through so you don’t end up with unwelcome guests, if you catch my drift… shock

Would be interested in hearing where you end up going, costs, etc.

I’ve heard in Texas its illegal to bait them unless youre on private land. Similar to deer hunting on public land, could be a little more difficult if you are unable to scout the land. If they have guided trips on public land, that might be a decent idea. Could potentially return to the same area on DIY trips in the future.

I’m not sure the population density, but I almost hit one on my SXS a couple years ago just north of Ironwood in the UP…We saw dozens of them throughout the week. Some in bars, most on trails…Again, not sure about a hunt-able population, but I know they’re definitely around up there and well within a days drive.
