I didn’t get on the lake until after 3:00pm and the wind had the flags looking like they were just ironed. When I was driving across the dam the main lake was full of white caps and I entertained the idea of driving around to Crites boat ramp but decided to use the Jayhawks ramp and take it easy on the throttle when on the main lake. The only time I had control of my boat was when running the 30hp evinrude and when the boat was tied to the dock or one of the trees I fished.
I picked up a few 10-11 inch specks and several 8-9.5 inch fish and noticed that the fish liked the darker colors. (Pretty much anything with black or green) But after 5:00 the wind started to subside and I was able to untie from the trees and work the boat. My game was right on once I got over my favorite submerged tree I couldn’t keep the fish off my hook. I boated six fish 11-12 inches and this monster that I forgot to measure, but from the inch marks on the floor of my boat I figure it is just shy of 15 inches.
