I went out Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday I caught 40-50 crappies and every single one was a female. The water temp was running 64 when I got on the water and the air temperature went up to 82-83. The sun was shinning and burned my hide. I was jigging with two jigs and the knot on the upper jig broke on three different occasions. I started using a three way swivel but it took too long to rig up with all of the knots. So I decided to go up to 6 pound line.
Sunday I didn’t catch as many fish however I did pull in several males. The quality of fish was not as good as Saturday but the males are getting closer to the bank. I got 70 degree readings in several places. Less female bites, warmer water, and a full moon leads me to believe that today or tomorrow it will happen.
I did witness a group of fishermen (3) tossing jigs for crappie in the timber catch another 28″ walleye. I didn’t have my camera and took a picture with my phone to post on IDO. I didn’t get their names and can’t download the picture to post.
