HIGH WIND WARNING

Gusts up to 60 MPH in my area starting tomorrow afternoon through Thurs. AM. Potential for even higher gusts in SE MN. Heavy Rain and even an outside shot at tornadoes. Not your typical December weather by any stretch.

Guess I’ll bring my garbage and recycling can inside tomorrow. Will be interesting how many giant inflatable snowmen, Santa and Rudolph lawn decorations will end up in the trees.

Thanks for the reminder! Going to take the flag down now. Might have to keep the chickens in the coop tomorrow so they don’t blow away!

We have similar forecast for 50-60mph winds. Looking at the hourly forecast 27mph at 11:00 tonight is the highest prediction. Maybe like my wet patio this morning with a zero percent chance of rain last night. Maybe neighbor was playing in the sprinkler last night.

Hopefully there isn’t a repeat of the nasty storms in Kentucky last week. The conditions are ripe for it later today.

They are showing the storm itself to be moving/tracking at 60-70 mph.. That is crazy! I look forward to watching it but not what damage it might do.

I just built a roof over the patio and had 18 inches of snow on it last weekend. Now it should see 50 MPH winds. Good test for it anyways.

I had to work last Saturday morning. I thought I’d see how the storm rolled out over the last 24hrs. So I popped up a 24hr radar. The storm with all the Tornado’s went from the boarder of Texas/Mexico, too Lake Michigan/Chicago in 12 hours!!! It came through extremely fast!! I haven’t looked today, but sounds like this one might be doing the same thing. Just a little further north..

Our contractor is spending the entire afternoon bracing on top of what he uses for traditional bracing. We have the main exterior walls up with no roof trusses. Our family owns a lull as does our contractor. We’re going to position the fence from each of those those snug against what should be the walls that take the prevailing wind. Other than that, we are hoping the large open windows will let a lot of the wind blow through the structure.

Everything is insured, except my sanity shock

If it is braced correctly you have nothing to worry about. Have had a lot of homes survive this type of wind.

We may not see this kind of wind that often in MN. I have been in North Dakota a couple of times where there was 60-70 MPH wind with 100+ MPH gust. It literally blew my house across the ice. When I put my ice spikes on I had to lean into it so far I thought I was going to face plant. My uncle was blown over and had to go to the hospital from hitting his head. Hope everyone stays safe.

The weather man said if you have those inflatable xmas decorations on your lawn best to take them in before this wind event.
