Waters dirtied up a bit when usually this time of year its clearing. What’s working for you guys chasing marble eyes so far this year?

Cranks have been the only consistent thing for me with a fish here fish there at night. Usual haunts have significant flow and tried chasing slower water close by. Seems like HJs or flickers that put out alot of sound or vibration get hits when I can’t get the ringies to stay still long enough in the spots.

water is dirty. fish bright sunny days if you can. might still find good early morning or late day bite windows. try hair jigs during day.

Most my fall fishing is at night after the kids get tucked in to bed, which usually works out good bc of water clarity. Got lucky and had a job move on me this week hope to have a couple full days in the boat during the day, will try some hair.

Last couple falls hair and meat in current seams worked when the water was high and a bit dirty. Wasn’t this dirty but with this good stretch of weather coming up I would expect that pattern would work again.

i fish the same spots i do in high water in the spring the last few falls we’ve had high water. we’ve done exceptionally well. i use alot more live bait in high water in the fall too.

I was caught a few on Rippin Raps and Northland Rippin Shads Saturday. Did a lot better than crank baits.

First fall fishing the river for me. Had some issues with my boat and was out Sunday to see if I fixed them – water was extremely high with all the rain. Is it a good bet to focus more on current seams and eddys with these water conditions? I couldnt even ID the usual wing dams with how high the flow was. I didn’t get much of a chance to get off the main channel but may try that this coming week.

Ditto, Nhamm, I’ve switched jobs and work my own hours from home now. Good timing, should be able to get out and fish a lot!

Anybody have an update? I was up by the ford dam tonight and it was dead. 3 boats, 4-5 shore fishermen, saw one small fish caught. I zeroed.

Cranks and more cranks for myself. Very few fish on plastics and hair or livebait. Areas adjacent to deeper pools with rock. Water is clearing so nightbite starting to crank up or overcast days, the snowstorm last Friday was awesome and Saturday darned good to!

If a guy wanted to try that stretch of the river, what’s the best place to launch?

Boom island. Pay the machine or get ticketed, or park on street to the north, big empty lot there.

Edit: word of warning, never had issues for years on the stretch but this year’s been a weird one, from picking up naked narcotic high chicks in the river to abandoning spots bc of gunfire be careful!!

lol NHAMM I don’t think dodging bullets while fishing is on my list of priorities. I’ll stick to dodging a few weirdos and risking a broken car window on pool 2…. coffee

Edit: Thanks for the info though!

I know the area well. I probably wouldn’t want to be loading up my boat after dark on my own, just because it puts you in a situation where you’re “trapped” if someone approaches you, your focus is on getting the boat strapped up, etc.
